hotwax: Good one my bro. When you tell them that our way of reasoning as yoruba is quite different from theirs, they keep mentioning Afonja. When Afonja rebelled(which was his personal decision), he stood by the consequencies of his action and paid the supreme price. He died like a warrior. He did not escape to any country like some people did after wasting over 2m lives and yet did not achieve their ambition. 2 Likes 1 Share |

mrteee: It's either you still don't comprehend the op, my first response to it, or we have a case of cognitive dissonance here. For the records, most of my heroes in our long struggle for democracy, justice and the rule of law are southwesterners. People like the the late Gani, the late Bola Ige, the late PA Adesanya, the towering Wole Soyinka, Femi Falana, Ms Obe, even Bola Tinubu, etc etc. So , stop playing that ethnic hate card on me. Now, I and I'm pretty sure many others, are surprised, curious and worried why the ever vigilant southwest Intelligentia, except for the deceased heroes, have capitulated, pacified , even dine and wine with feudal oligarchs who are not even pretentious about their objectives. If you , in your infinite wisdom, regard the thread and my posts on this thread as insulting to you, then I am in a fix whether to say " I am sorry" or " too bad ". Stop the posturing. Stop the whining. I think if southwesterners and southeasterners put away hypocrisy and political correctness to sit down and chat with honesty, the fortunes of this country might actually move in a positive direction. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

Omoluabi16: I know what I'm saying. It's just as if there's conspiracy of silence. While i don't want to blame the SW alone, it bothers me that after that lady was killed, no SW person led a protest against it. But some foolish women led protest against Dino because he abused Tinubu. . I've heard people down South defend some of the atrocities of the herdsmen or Northern moslems. Someone once said that the reason the herdsmen kill is because their cattles are being stolen. He said the herdsmen don't just kill like that. 2 Likes |

Exactly bro, that's where the deliverance of this sleeping giant called Nigeria lies. All the tribes/regions in nigeria know that there is injustice but there is no unity of approach in tackling it. 1 Like |

Typical insane igbo thoughts. So U want the whole of SW to go in flames cos 1 or 2 people were killed by eccentric people. God will not answer your prayers. Yoruba land is too thoughtful and reasonable to let issues like that rock it. Let's talk igbo mouth and no action cowardice. Kanu, the lousy dog has been in chains for almost a year. All the noise of Nigeria will born if he's not released has gone. Now igbo elders are going to buhari to beg for money. Enugu, Abia are seriously ravaged by herdsmen. Daily raping your mothers, daughters and sisters. Killing your people. Where are your men? Na to dey fly one ugly biafra flag and make noise dem sabi. Who is talking? Today today, Abia is under siege. Igbo elders are collecting money from fulani herdsmen to graze on peoples farm and rape igbo women. Biafra go dey take style corner SS, claiming oil. Lousy modafokas. Na behind Yoruba una go everly day. Envy will kill U. Still dem go dey run go SW. - awon oloshi 4 Likes |

EasternActivist: How many wars have been fought in Nigeria? Just one, the civil war and it was one between the north and the east. Did you expect Yorubas to fight a war which wasn't theirs? You should forever be grateful to Yorubas that made the south West a safe haven for you guys else your tribe would have ceased to exist. |

plaetton: Seriously, the OP basically regurgitated the same ethnic and tribe baiting ways of ibo people which Yoruba people have always sidestepped and refused to swallow, we are just not into such stupidity, foolish, thoughtless and destructive ways of thinking and self destructive resolutions which have incapacitated ibo people and other purveyors of ethnic and bigoted sentiments and emotions. What happened to the preacher in Abuja was sad and unfortunate and even reprehensible, but this is a law enforcement issue, this is what law enforcement should be allowed to handle, this is what people do in sane and rational societies. What do we have to gain by taking the law into our own hands, acting destructive, fighting and blowing up or cities and promoting lawlessness. MKO passed away decades ago, but should we have started endless war, destruction and anarchy in our own land, should we have destroyed what we spent decades to build just because ibo people respond to such issues with thoughtlessness, insanity, hate, bigotry, enmity and everlasting anger that's so far incapacitated the entire ibo race and prevented them from moving forward? Our ways work for us and we don't have to be like you, we don't feed on paranoia, we don't feed on anger, we don't feed on hatred and we know when and how to handle our issues, we pick our own battles, you don't. Before telling other people what, to do or how to respond to anything, you should first show them how handling issues the way you prefer and suggested have worked for you, how it progressed and developed your land and how it made you economically and politically relevant. Obviously, your ways never worked for you, it's been destructive, it fed you nothing but hatred, anger and bitterness which we are not. Anger, hate and bitterness doesn't create conducive environment for peaceful coexistent like the one you enjoy in Yorubaland, it doesn't create jobs, like the jobs you troop to the SW to make a living with, it doesn't develop any society, it doesn't lead to investments like we attract in the SW than any other region in Nigeria. The ibo writer is a know hate mongering and bigoted peddler of ethnic baits which excites only his kind... 2 Likes |

aressssa: You still miss the point. I am sticking with the core issues of the OP, not what might be his motives. The reason I responded is because I too have been pondering same, even debating with my close southwest friends. If we can't honestly discuss and address issues without invoking ethnic hatred, then what's the point of saying we are citizens of the same nation? Nobody, certainly not me, is talking about or insinuating violence and bitterness. We , I especially, am lamenting what I am Missing from the usually outspoken southwestern elites on relevant and vexing national issues. I still can't figure out how this valid curiosity constitute ethnic baiting, disrespect or hatred towards the southwest. This is a question that southwest youths should be asking their elders. And many of them have already started asking. 1 Like |

plaetton: No, I did not miss anything and I based my post strictly on the writers misguided views and ethnic baiting sentiments. Where is the sense and wisdom in asking why the SW is responding or not responding this or that way. Who arrogated to the writer the right to judge or question how ethnic groups should respond to issues especially obvious National issues? The murdered preacher remains a national and law enforcement issue, not any kind of issue to handle any other way. The writer basically echoed the same destructive and pointless sentiments by his kind we read on NL everyday Before telling other people what, to do or how to respond to anything, you should first show them how handling issues the way you prefer and suggested have worked for you or any society under the sun, how it progressed and developed your land and how it made you economically and politically relevant. 2 Likes |

The write should be aware that there is nothing wrong with the South West, we are learned, matured and reasonable, we embrace peace and dialogue, we don't lend support to subtlety, manipulations and violent means to an end. We listen to the voice of reason and if the country will be spotted it should be based on dialogue and not political effrontery and bloodshed. It's a shame that a learned man in azuka will write a speech to invite violence and I am not surprised that the shout shout and shout yeast hoodlums who have no good for themselves will add credit to a call to an inglorious act. The y want the country divided sadly they see it United from this side of the country, the south west will never be a party to stupidity, Fayoses braz3n madness does not represent the Yorubas. We will not be invited into madness and the south West won't lend a voice to their agitations. If the SW were a hot bed could the yeebos have settled their businesses around here? Had the mile 12 market riot turned and inflamed into sectarian violence, will they SS or SE clap for us? Will any support come from them? I have so much to say but they should be aware that we are fine, simply and absolutely fine in the SW. Let the SS and SE wail on, we are having in their victim mentality. 2 Likes |

There is nothing wrong with SW, so this IPOB man should mind his business. Their hero (Nnamdi kanu) is degrading and rotting inside kuje prison yet what his kinsmen can come up with is disguising under NDA to form useless militant groups everyday claiming they will cripple the economy, isn't that a coward act? Isn't not same IPAD youth who formed Niger Ultimate Warrior saying they will bomb 3rd mainland bridge? However, when silence becomes too much, it becomes stupidity. I believe it's time for SW to break silence and apply action where necessary. If SW should seek secession from Nigeria today, I will support it without thinking twice though I still believe in one Nigeria but it's becoming unbearable to live in the country. |

aressssa: A discussion on Nairaland should be similar to the type of discussions I have with my friends everyday. In fact, my very good southwest friends hVe boasted many times to me that the southwest elites are the champions of democratic struggle, social justice and the triumph of the rule law in Nigeria. And I completely concur. Now, tell me, what is wrong with me going back to my southwest friends and asking them what the heck is going on? Why are the southwest champions of social justice and the rule of law now on sabbatical? This is a legitimate question. Should my friends now feel offended that I asked ? There is no reason for you to feel offended, irrespective of who is doing the asking. 1 Like |

ayindejimmy: You too have chosen to focus on the messenger and ignoring the message. I didn't see anything in the original OP that advocated ethnic hatred, bitterness or violence. For example, what happened to June 12? Abiola was surely Nigeria's true martyr for democracy. How come all of a sudden there was a deafening silence last month on June 12th? Has Abiola's martyrdom been traded for Buhari's Messiahship? This is a valid question that must be asked. If you can't answer it, then kindly move on and let another person attempt to. The North neutered the South-West o. Ably assisted by OBJ and Tinubu. By 1998 with the whole June 12 and abacha vs nadeco episode, the Yorubas wanted out of Nigeria. OPC was on fire and it seemed certain the SW would accept regional autonomy in the very least. Fast forward to 2016 after a yoruba president and a yoruba vice president who is married to the grand daughter of Awo the man that was a champion of true federalism (until 1966 of course). A VP that is the political son of Tinubu a self styled awoist and former advocate of regionalism changing his mind about true federalism? Nothing can surprise us again in this country |

plaetton:the killing of the preacher is a crime every Nigerians shuld condemn. However, June 12 is a national issue. Imagine the scorn we'll get if we advocate dat other regions shuld celebrate it? So if u and the op claimed June 12 was nt celebrated, obviously u're nt in the West or dnt listen to radio. On June 12 there was Public holiday in Osun and Oyo. I cant recall if Ogun had. But Lag didnt. Above all, the celebratn was felt in all Western state. Now, if u or the op claimed it wasnt, i'll take that as ur opinion. Not mine or Yorubas. U dnt av to start call our attention to hw we shuld react to issues . U react the manner u want, and we do ours. We cant all be calling for disunity. Now, if this an opionated forum u'll learn to respect nd tolerate hw other ethnic react to issues without using insultive words, dnt u tink so? 1 Like |

Op. U ar spot-on with your piece. Hwever, the silence is not a sign of cowardice. @ Otukpo got it right. It is the silence and peace of the graveyard. Presently, Yoruba has no apolitical leader. A leader that is free of political sentiments. Yotubas are going through internal re-engineering if u know what I mean . That is why intelligent people are not speaking with different voices. We should all just wait to see. A Yoruba proverb says, oruko ti aba ma so omo eni, inu eni longbe titi di ojo isomo loruko. Meanwhile, the SEasterners should leave us alone. After all when they ganged up with the north to bring Shagari in, we never complained. Then, just as SW has it now, their kind was the VP. When the SE ganged up with the north to make Obasanjo the presi even though the Sw was against it, we swallowed it without complain. Why are they crying now, being just the first time we have it as we voted. Haba. 1 Like |
