Nice looking birds. To those who expect Nigeria to fly F16 Falcons, F18 Hornets or other front-line military interceptor jets, just be glad Nigeria operates combat aircraft that would give good account of themselves as dog-fighters or ground attack platforms in a regional clash, which is good enough, since huge budgetary allocations for highly advanced military aircraft will wreak a toll on the funding of other national priorities, especially with the current drop in oil prices on the international market, and the attendant economic slowdown experienced by Nigeria in consequence of that depleted national revenue stream. On a lighter note, which red-blooded young man has never dreamed of settling into the cockpit of a fighter jet, easing the throttle lever forward into takeoff thrust as the engines roar and thunder, guiding the rampaging beast down the runway center-line with subtle rudder pedal corrections as speed gathers, then pulling back on the stick to gonzo-launch yourself into a steep climb with G-forces cramming you back in your seat as the after-burners kick in, hurtling you up through a cotton-wool cloud bank and into the stratosphere's endless deep blue ? Yeeeeehaaw Oh yeah. The need for speed. What a job that would be. 2 Likes 1 Share |
