For allegedly forgetting a towel inside a patient after surgical operation, two doctors working with a private hospital in Lagos are to face the full wrath of the law.
The duo, Dr Taiwo Shogunle, 53 and Dr. Adeleke Olusegun, 43 of St. Raphael Divine Mercy Specialist Hospital at Ijede, Ikorodu, Lagos State have been arraigned before a Lagos Magistrates’ Court for allegedly causing the death of their patient, Omojola Bamgboye during surgical operation.
The doctors were arrested by operatives of the Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos. After investigation by Inspector Monday Omoigui and his team, the doctors were arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos on a one count charge of felony, to wit, murder.
Police prosecutor, Supol Eshiet Eshiet told the court in charge No L/28/2016 that the accused persons committed the offence between 18 and 19 December, 2015 at St. Raphael Divine Mercy Specialist Hospital, Ijede, Ikorodu, Lagos.
Eshiet told the court presided by Magistrate A.T. Omoyele that the doctors unlawfully killed the man during surgical operation by negligently abandoning a foreign body, towel, in his abdomen.
He said the offence the offence is punishable under section 222(2) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused persons denied the allegations in the open court and the magistrate admitted them to bail in the sum of N500,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.
Omoyele directed the prosecutor to duplicate the case file and forward it to the office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution, DPP, for advice.
She adjourned the case till 9 September, 2016 for mention.

PM News reports that Dr Taiwo Shogunle and Dr.
Adeleke Olusegun worked at St. Raphael Divine Mercy
Specialist Hospital at Ijede, Ikorodu in Lagos where they
carried out the operation on one Omojola Bamgboye.

An investigation by operatives of the Zone 2 Command
in the Onikan area of Lagos which was headed by
Inspector Monday Omoigui led to the arrest of the
doctors.

They were arraigned before an Igbosere magistrates’
court on a one count charge of murder.

Supol Eshiet Eshiet who is the police prosecutor told the
court that the doctors in an act of negligence killed
Bamgboye after forgetting a towel in his abdomen.

He quoted that the offence is punishable under section
222(2) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The doctors however denied the allegation and were
granted bail in the sum of N500,000 each with two
sureties each in like sum by the presiding magistrate,
A.T. Omoyele.

The magistrate advised the prosecutor to duplicate the
case file and forward it to the office of the directorate of
public prosecution for advice.

The case was adjourned till September 9.

Lalasticlala come see o! Thats one of d biggest hospital in ikorodu. Are they quacks? Could it be that they punctured somewhere & decided to patch it up with the towel so the patient dnt die in their hands, or a sort of attack by witches, because a doctor told us how he closed his hospital due to 'interference' by strong forces during operation?
