Most ahithophels aka Yorubbas actually think Lagos is big especially when they bring SE in the equation. Not knowing that the smallest state in SE...Anambra is 3x of Lagos in actual landmass considering half of Lagos is water. If Lagos houses nearly 30 million today at only 20% usage of its actual landmass, Anambra will house over 200 million at 20% usage of its landmass with existing high-rise building plan. It's currently only at 10% usage! Quick facts for the Ahithophels Israel is only the size of Cross river at roughly 20,770 km² yet powerful and successful. Luxembourg is only 2,590 km² which half of Anambra yet successful. The guy below is an illiterate...doesn't know the difference between a nominal landmass and actual landmass. Lagos Nominal landmass is 3345km2 but Actual landmass excluding water is 1670km2. HALF OF LAGOS STATE IS WATER. ONLY 1/8 OF ANAMBRA IS WATER! 93 Likes 10 Shares |

Clinton9000: Are you commenting on this post or another post? Anambra is nxt to lagos in landmass. Minus the water part. the diffrence btw the two states is about 1,500 sqkm or 33%. But take note too that erosion is eroding most of the eastern states, with anambra inclusive. 142 Likes 16 Shares |

Why then are my Igbo brothers clamouring for more states when the whole of SE is not as big as the smallest state in the North. Imagine Ebonyi +Imo+ Abia is not as big as my Delta sef. 40 Likes 2 Shares |

Clinton9000: The ever insecure Igbo man whose destiny is determined by the Yorubas who ever remain responsible for his misfortune. You even had to lie again when the fact you are even quoting shows otherwise? Igbos and propaganda, a curse sealed in hell. Save for Enugu that is interjected by 2 states, all the SE states queue in series behind Lagos as the smallest states in Nigeria. As a region, the SE is not up to many states in the country. I really do not know why the federal government fractured the 2 original states of Anambra and Imo into 5 states. Infact, the single South Eastern state as outlined by Gowon, is all that should have been retained instead of these villages that have resulted from over-fracturing. Oyo state that is position 14 by size, is about as big as the whole of the SE region, talkless of 13 other states in the country. 73 Likes 8 Shares |

Only in Nigeria would some useless people waste time mouthing off about "land mass" Empty space of land, not habitable, not farmable, and yet designed to be a factor in the revenue sharing formula. Imagine where you have this stuupiid land mass syndrome in the US, Alaska and Montana will be the richest states: http://state.1keydata.com/states-by-size.php Thank God, they have smart leaders in the US and not you chop I chop useless shortsighted politicians, craving their next meal at all cost. When did 'land mass' become a factor in Nigerian politics? 54 Likes 7 Shares |

Clinton9000: As you compare the two smallest states Lagos and Anambra with citing that half of Lagos is water, you note that not every square inch of Anambra is habitable as there are areas dealing with the erosion menace likewise communities that are flood plains. Take Nkwoaku in Achalla town for example, that area is thousands of hectares but a flood plain as it gets to some months during the course of the year the water level become neck-deep and from October it begins to recede and becomes dry from late November till about April. This is borne from personal experience there as l was involved in some Agric projects there for 2 years. Size is not the issue but the output. Lagos which is the smallest State is still almost 5 times the size of Singapore which is a first world economy! See the North with about 80% of the Country's landmass but their ignorance convinces them that they must destroy farms in the South in order to feed their cows. When knowledge is not linked to natural resources it becomes worthless. 83 Likes 11 Shares |

naijaking1: Just a hunch....... you're from the SE, smallest landlocked region in Nigeria. 50% erosion, 50% dust. Not economically viable. No seaport. Not agriculturally viable, else you wouldn't have lied about hawking ugwu. The most neglected region in the South. The region that offers nothing to Nigeria, but claims "SS/SE" oil - even though SE produces 3% oil, while SS produces more than 60% of Nigeria's oil. The only majority group that needs to attach itself to an oil-producing minority group before they can have a sense of relevance. Just a hunch jare. I'm proud to be from the SW, a region that controls more than 80% of Nigeria's non-oil producing revenue. 87 Likes 10 Shares |

Re: Nigeria States By Landmass. Lagos Would Shock You by gartamanta: 7:24am On Aug 05, 2016 |
It seems that many Yorubas do not know that landmass has nothing to do with state creation, it is all about population. Nobody cares about landmass, what is important is capacity. Borno is the size of Britain but Britain is the 5th richest country in the world. I should add that Anioma should have been the 6th Igbo state. But all these things do not matter, if there is either a return to real federalism/Regionalism (or Biafra), the first thing we Igbos are going to do is abolish all the states in our area leaving just the Local Governments. State creation started by Gowon is one of the worst things to happen in Nigeria 26 Likes |
