Caught in the act: Woman teams up with concubine to kill hubby
From BONIFACE NZAMA, Calabar

Sex adventure has landed a married woman, one Mrs. Comfort Amiki Ugbada in police net, as she has been reportedly arrested for aiding and abetting the killing of her husband, over alleged intrusion into her extramarital affair.
The adventurous woman, who was allegedly caught pants down in her husband’s bedroom, having sex with another man, is currently cooling off at the homicide unit of the Cross River State Police headquarters at Diamond Hill in Calabar.

Daily Sun correspondent who visited the gory scene, reports that the ill-fated man, identified as Mr. Amiki Ugbada was killed in his residential apartment at Adikpe-Gabu community in Yala Local Government Area of the state.

Sources at the Adikpe village, including one John Aduma Ogar who confirmed the tragic incident, said Mr. Ugbada, a farmer who had applied for a small-scale loan from First City Monument Bank (FCMB), reportedly left home hale and hearty on the fateful day. He told his wife that he would travel some 80 kilometers away to receive the money at Ikom Local Government branch of the bank.

Apparently oblivious of the alleged adulterous acts of his wife, Mr. Ugbada reportedly told her he would not return home until the next day, saying he was determined to stay in Ikom and ensure that he was paid by the bank.

Ugbada left Adikpe for Ikom, but got information on the way that the bank had not finished processing his application.

Consequently, Ugbada terminated the journey at Ogoja town. He visited some of his friends in the town, and reportedly had drink with them till evening.

Ugbada then returned to home at about 11 p.m. His wife who believed her husband would not be back until the next day was said to have already invited her boyfriend to the house to sleep.
It was gathered that trouble started as Mr. Ugbada got home and became stranded, knocking at the door for several hours and waiting for his wife to open the door.

As effort to get into his bedroom and sleep continued to yield no result, Mr. Ugbada got angry, and decided to force the door open, only to find his wife was in with another man.
A fight reportedly erupted, as Comfort and her daring boyfriend allegedly teamed up and gave Mr. Ugbada the beating, which allegedly culminated in his death on the spot.

My people, what would you do if you were in the victim's shoes?I mean, if you got into your house and caught your spouse and "intruder" pants down.To make things worse, they are defiant and don't care less about what the consequences?

Sources privy to the autopsy report and other medical examinations, which were carried out at the Ogoja General hospital, said Mr. Ugbada died with broken testes, severed teeth and a broken skull.
At press time, reports from the area revealed that the incident had become a source of trouble to residents of the Adikpe-Gabu community, as police were said to have invaded the area, embarking on indiscriminate arrests.

Scores of people in the community were reported to have fled to their farms and neighbouring communities to avoid arrest, abandoning their 2009 New Yam Festival activities which coincided with the bloody incident.

A former staff of Newswatch magazine, Mr. Mathias Oko, currently the secretary of Yala Local Government Council who confirmed the incident, said the police had already arrested several persons including some chiefs in the community.
At Okpoma Police Station where the matter was reported, the DPO said he was shocked that even the couple’s son, “who was there that night, knew that the mother killed the father, but failed to alert the police on time.”

The DPO refused to comment further on the matter, as he said the matter had been transferred to State Police Headquarters in Calabar.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, Mr. Etim Dickson said the woman and her boyfriend had been arrested and would soon be charged to court.

What if the man tried running away but couldn't? I don't even pray to be in such a situation.
