niyi123: Yes, born and raised in the US, with Nigerian roots. They didn't throw away their names as you can see, they can trace their roots. Don't be surprised if they attend Nigerian meetings and are members of Nigerian associations in the US 2 Likes |

Junior66: Interesting. But I am not surprised as I already knew about this. Igbo people also use Okolobia/Okorobia to mean young man. It's either you say Okolo/Okoro or you say Okolobia/Okorobia. Young woman is Agbogho or Agboghobia. Notice the similar format with 'bia'. I'll like to know what you guys call young woman in Igala. Okolo/Okoro as a name is so deeply entrenched in Igbo naming culture that it has several derivatives apart from just plain Okolo. Nwokolo/Nwokoro = son of the youth. Okoroafor = young man born on Afor day. Okorocha = Light-skinned young man. Okolobu = young man born in his father's reception hall (obu/obu) Etc. 2 Likes |

Shym3xx: LMAO...Nigga, I thought you are through with this shit. Nri has no record of a dead Igala language. However,we have always been good neighbors. I double dare you to point out an Igala or Igbo out when they sit together. Igala are very cool and we love them. |

OdenigboAroli: Looool. Was Eri the founder of Nri not one of Igala's Onoja princes? Lol. Heck, there are even Igbos who bear the name "Onoja" today and the name is an ancient Yoruboid name acquired into Igbo via Igala. Ditto Olisa. You lot can rewrite history all you want, but Nri was Igala lol. |

scarred9jan:The traditional ruler of Anyigba town in dekina lga of kogi state, an Igala man bears Shaibu Okolo (Ogohi 1 of Anyigba). Is he an Igbo? What's your point? The owner of the name could be Igala of Igbo as far as I care. Maybe even Idoma. |
