TOPIC: THE MIRACLE OF DIVINE INCREASE
TEXT: EZEKIEL 34:26-27; 36:11
• 26 And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing.
• 27 And the tree of the field shall yield her fruit, and the earth shall yield her increase, and they shall be safe in their land, and shall know that I am the LORD, when I have broken the bands of their yoke, and delivered them out of the hand of those that served themselves of them.
ch 36:11
• And I will multiply upon you man and beast; and they shall increase and bring fruit: and I will settle you after your old estates, and will do better unto you than at your beginnings: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
This is the Almighty God talking here, and tonight, you shall know that He is the Lord. Tonight is a night of increase for you, your family, in your profession, personal and ministerial life. When we are talking about increase, it is not limited to material things: work, employment, money, or restricted to any age group. The young shall increase, and the old shall increase. Both shall have the revelation and realization of divine increase. Amen.
God’s revelation presents us with a new life: increase in your personal life, abundant life, increase of strength, fulfillment of God’s promises in your life, and in every profitable and positive achievement. Increase of blessing, fruitfulness, needful supply, increase and addition of every good thing in your life. Addition and multiplication will begin in your lives tonight. Amen.
A. THE PROMISE AND THE PRICE OF DIVINE INCREASE
Something surprises you. When people come to the church and look at the promises of God, the next thing is prayer. Prayer is good and wonderful, and God answers them. There are promises God has given, and there is a price to pay along with the promise.
For example, God gives a man who is a farmer a fertile land, and the crops and everything for increase. He now sits in his house or comes to church thanking God and praying to Him for increase without working. He spends all the time praying instead of going to that land to plant the seed. The provision is free but we have to make necessary efforts to possess the promise for wealth in every area of life. Then we must work to reap the blessing of divine increase.
• To achieve, we must act. If you fold your arms, nothing will happen
• To succeed, we must sweat and study
• To be saved, I must surrender
• To reap, we must sow
• To harvest, we must plant
• To gain, we must give
• To triumph, we must travail
For full, inexhaustible increase, we need to partner with God because two cannot work together except they agree. We cannot and will not fail. Heaven will back us up.
Genesis 1:26-28
• 26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
• 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
• 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
Here, we see the intention, promise, provision and power of God. The promise is there (Genesis 2:15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it) and this is the price Adam had to pay. There is the revelation that God is going to bless and there is the responsibility we have to carry out (Psalm 104:1,13-16,23). God waters the earth and makes everything to grow for our satisfaction. Believers can throw up their hands and say God is good and wonderful, God is going to bless me, but there is a price to pay: get out of your house and work.
I pray God will open our eyes so that we will not leave everything undone, and say God will do it. There must be something to do to cause the divine increase, something you apply your strength and life to. Man goes to his labour till the evening. You need to have a drive that you will increase.
Job 8:5-7
• 5 If thou wouldest seek unto God betimes, and make thy supplication to the Almighty;
• 6 If thou wert pure and upright; surely now he would awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.
• 7 Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.
When you wake up in the morning, go out and do whatever you are able to, do not despise the day of small beginning. Do not say anything you see to do is below your standard, dignity, training and qualifications. Do it better than anyone around can ever do it. God promises that if you do that small thing well, in your office, at home, your latter end would greatly increase. Amen.
Matthew 6:33. Do not worry about what you do not have, put God first and you will be surprised. As you go, provision and increase will meet you on the way. Jesus said these words and He never lies.
I am happy you are here tonight despite all the bottlenecks and difficulties on the roads, God will honour you. You will not be here in vain, He will add to your life in Jesus name. Amen.
B. THE POSITION OF PILLARS IN DESIRABLE INCREASE. Proverbs 9:1
The size of the building you want to put up will determine the size of the pillars you will erect. For a small shed, tiny pillars would do, but for a massive edifice, strong and sturdy pillars would be required. As we are talking about divine, definite and desirable increase, there are pillars which God is looking for:
1. INCREASED FAITH. Luke 17:5
a) FAITH In GOD
You may trust God before, but now, you will trust Him more.
b) FAITH In YOURSELF
It is not enough to have faith in God, you must also have faith in yourself for you to succeed. Some young students on their first day at school needed to meet their teacher. One introduces himself shyly, unable to look at the teacher in the face, while the other introduces himself as one whom God has not created to be the tail and whom He would help to succeed. He believes that God has not created him to be a dummy or a failure, a coward, or somebody under the table, but He made him a conqueror, success, and captain.
c) FAITH in PEOPLE
You cannot succeed alone, you need others. Trust in them, they would be your helpers.
2. INCREASED LOVE
Do not always find fault and complain about everything and everybody. Cheer up, love and touch the lives of people (I Thessalonians 3:12).
3. INCREASED RIGHTEOUSNESS. 2 Corinthians 9:10
Some people think that before they will increase, they must cut corners, and be dubious and fraudulent. This is not right. Now is the time to go back to Calvary. Righteousness exalts you.
4. INCREASED STRENGTH
You need increased strength in order to be able to do more and go farther. Isaiah 40:28-31
5. INCREASED KNOWLEDGE
You must not stay on one spot, you must make progress. Spend time everyday to learn something new. Always increase your knowledge. It is also important to increase in the knowledge of God (Proverbs 19:2) You ought to know about what you want to do. The farmer must have the knowledge of farming (appropriate crop and location) before venturing into it.
6. INCREASED LEARNING
You must take interest in learning and knowing about what you do not know. (Proverbs 9:9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning). Increase in learning makes us wiser.
7. INCREASED LABOUR
The blessing of increase will come when you address yourself to the duties of life. Do not run from difficulty because it will just increase from day to day. Stay there, the Lord will help you. (I Corinthians 3:6-7) Do not wait for anyone to call or employ you, make something happen. Start something yourself and become an employer of labour. Then God will bless the work of your hands and bring the increase. Before the divine increase, there is a price to pay.
C. OUR PRAYERS AND PREPARATION FOR DISTRIBUTIVE INCREASE. Ezekiel 34:26-27; 36:11,37
• 11 And I will multiply upon you man and beast; and they shall increase and bring fruit: and I will settle you after your old estates, and will do better unto you than at your beginnings: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
• 37 Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will yet for this be enquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them; I will increase them with men like a flock.
God promised us so many things but we still need to ask Him before He does them.
Whatever you sow you will reap, if you sow corn, you will reap corn. If you sow nothing, you will reap failure.
1. PRAY and PLAN. Plan and Pray. Proverbs 24:27
You must ensure that whatever you want to do, you will pray and plan about it.
2. PRAY and PLANT. Do not depend only on your prayer, or that of your pastor. Plan as you pray.
3. PRAY and PURGE. There is a way people at the top comport themselves. Understudy them in preparation for when you get to the top. Purge yourself of every negative and derogatory habits and attitude (John 15:2)
4. PRAY and PURSUE (Judges 8:4) Do not give up, do not say the end has come. Continue to trust in God.
5. PRAY and PRESS ON (Philippians 3:13-14) You will be an achiever in Jesus name but you must not be discouraged. Keep pressing on till you get to the finishing line.
• 13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
• 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
6. PRAY and POUR YOURSELF OUT (2 Kings 4:1-6) Be a help to others, touch other people’s live, be a blessing to all around you. Sweat and labour for the good of others. When there is no one else to pour yourself into, the oil will stay.
7. Pray and Persevere. Take your pen and cancel out I CANNOT because YOU CAN. Do not ever give up (Genesis 32:26).
Get up and pray for divine increase. Tell the Lord, I will never let you go except you bless me. Amen and Amen.
Pray that God will increase His blessings upon our Pastor’s life. Amen.
