Lets be honest. This referee has short-changed Nigeria. He is so quick to book Naija players and he turns the other face when it comes to the Venezuelans. |

Why didn't Rabiu play. Too many wingers means a lot of pointless running and giving the ball away. They needed a central calmer/ sprayer. |

Well, we've lost the first game. De vela was good for the Venezuelans. I am confident we will go far in this tournament. Good night, Nairalanders. I believe in our boys. |

Re: Nigeria Vs Venezuela (0 - 1) - FIFA U-20 WC 2009 by Sauron1: 7:44pm On Sep 25, 2009 |
Nigeria can still win the tournament but they have to hone their finishing skills. Venezuela 31%-69% Nigeria despite them going a man down. We can Arrow Spain and Tahiti. France lost their opening game once in an age-grade competition and they still went ahead to win the tourney. I am pleased with the fight the lads showed in the 2nd half. They coulda won the game EASILY. |

Re: Nigeria Vs Venezuela (0 - 1) - FIFA U-20 WC 2009 by FBS: 7:47pm On Sep 25, 2009 |
This is what I have to say. SiaOne made a mistake by selecting the wrong players and playing them out of position. Obiora who played No 5 is actually not a defender (apparently to accommodate Haruna). You saw that when he (Obiora) moved up (as a DM a-la Essien style), things got better in the second half. We had a distributor. The defense in the first half was pissy sh!tty poor. Haruna should not even smell the green colors AGAIN! With 10 men we had 61% possession whereas with 11 we were struggling. Siasia got it right in the second half and you could see the multitude of chances we created but our strikers were wasteful. They played with more purpose during the second half and if they continue like that. . .well, lets hope for the best. Right now, I'm just pissed. I waited for this match like it was my birthday. PS: The ref should be castrated. |
Re: Nigeria Vs Venezuela (0 - 1) - FIFA U-20 WC 2009 by sherrylo: 7:47pm On Sep 25, 2009 |
Well, the ref was too quick to hand that straight red card and how many yellow cards did we get? 5,6? oh my God anyway we lost this one but may we never loose again amen.good night everyone. @FBS thanks for all you posted today. |

Re: Nigeria Vs Venezuela (0 - 1) - FIFA U-20 WC 2009 by Sauron1: 7:55pm On Sep 25, 2009 |
sherry lo: Exactly ma point. All the 50-50 decisions went to Venezuela. He made wrong calls after wrong calls and it is hard to believe no Venezuelan got carded in spite of their crunchy tackles. The ref must be shagging a chic from their country. . . . . .On a brighter side, Eurosports commentators say Siasia can appeal the RED CARD. FIFA should sack the referee forever. |
Re: Nigeria Vs Venezuela (0 - 1) - FIFA U-20 WC 2009 by semid4lyfe(m): 7:55pm On Sep 25, 2009 |
We played against the Ref in this match but our players should be blamed for setting an 'offside trap' instead of marking the venezuelans one on one during the freekick that resulted in the goal. |
