It’s no news that sex is one of the trending topics worldwide, it’s very appalling that even the underaged are involved in this, every day we read news of minors being sexually abused and some of them proudly talking about their sexual escapades. When surfing through the internet you find a lot of disturbing sex stories and pictures most times one is afraid of surfing the internet with a kid around because you never can tell what you're going to stumble into.
Most times I wonder why sex is given so much importance. There's no doubt that the media is one major thing promoting sex. If parents talk about sex to their kids before they find out elsewhere they won't put so much importance in sex. As a parent have you ever talked to your kid about sex? (it’s not about scaring them which is very typical of most African parents, it will only make them try it out, kids are adventurous) As a parent do you know you (your partner and kids also) are at risk having more than one sexual partner? (condoms can’t save you all the time)
Sex should be shared with that special someone you're legally married to. Abstinence is the best for single people not because of religious reasons but health problems having sex exposes you to. Ever wondered why STDs were not common in the past? It's simple, people don't sleep around. There are so many STDs around now and sometimes even condoms can't save you because it can cover everything and some STDs from the exposed part (that shouldn't stop you from wearing one). This STDs can cause serious health problems like cancer, it can destroy your reproductive organs, cause blindness, paralysis, pain and even death.
Some sexually active people don't even know anything about STDs. I was disappointed when I stumbled on a topic about someone seeking for help and mentioned the STD he was infected with and some people were asking the meaning. And other people were talking about the symptoms they are having, they don't even know what infections they have.
STDs could be nature's way of taming us. One unique thing that separates us from animals is our ability to control our emotions and urges. If we can't, well we're just another animals roaming about. If you can’t abstain, being in a monogamous relationship is another option and be faithful (this is not hundred percent like abstaining because your partner might be infected from previous relationship without showing any sign and you can get infected). Get vaccinated and live a safe and healthy life.
