ozy4christ:And don't be surprise he will win. Buhari have turned a blind eye while herdsmen rampage every corner in the middle belt, Including IBB homeland. The only sure vote Buhari can get is from the core north as usual. Buhari may not be the cause of the popular Fulani issue but being deaf about it may backfire. I stay in the North and the same people that voted for Buhari are now displease, Go to the market everywhere and all you hear is "Na change cause am". Price of Foodstuff is shooting up. Buhari may have a chance if PDP pick a southerner, But when two heavy weight northerners contest? That would be hard. 1 Like |

IBB is the most corrupt Nigerian leader. He looted the national treasury more than Abacha did. Abacha's crime to the fore because he's late now. IBB should shut the f**k up because he's among the reasons Nigeria has remained perpetually sick. 2 Likes |

I support former Military President, Ibrahim Babangida on this issues despite the fact that he is also responsible for our economic woe having misruled this country for good 8 years. It is on record that big time stealing started from his time during his 8 years rule as military leader. Babangida is credited with the trophy as the leader who institutionalized corruption in Nigeria in the sense that before him there were minimal corruption in Nigeria government but when he came to power through a palace coup he created the mechanism for our politicians both civilian and military to steal big money from government purse. There were so many impunity during "IBB" time as military president. Talking about cutting the cost of governance in Nigeria, I think this good suggestion for a part time legislature was also re-echoed by Prof Pat Utomi sometimes last year but our politicians in power never took Prof Utomi suggestion seriously. If there is anytime in our history we need to re-evaluate the cost of governance in Nigeria the time is now.The federal government really need to reduce the cost of governance in the country. There is so many drain pipe in the type of federal system we run in Nigeria all at the expense of a large population of Nigerians that are suffering. There is no need for a full time legislature. The National Assembly should be run on part time. The constitution that provide for 36 federal ministers including an additional minister of states should be amended. We need fewer ministers and ministry. Nigeria should adopt the British parliamentary system as against this expensive american presidential system. Nigeria currently run a Bicameral legislature that is the senate and the House of Representative. In this challenging time Nigeria should opt for a single legislature instead of the two houses which increases the cost of governance in Nigeria. The federal government should consider closing some of our missions abroad or rather merge them together. Our political class should go back to the farm to grow food for human consumption instead of the lazy man option of everyone entering politics to embezzle our commonwealth. The Nigeria government should remove the stigma associated with farming in Nigeria. In the United States some of the wealthy people are farmers. But in Nigeria our wealthy class are full time politician who are not adding value to society. 1 Like |

Very sound suggestion. If Nigeria really wants to reduce the cost of governance, let it start with the legislators. Its high time their case was looked at. They are gulping a large chunk of our collective wealth, and most of them go to d house to sleep, look nd join the bandwagon, poorly representing the ppl who put them there in the first place. 1 Like |

IBB is saying the fact, let's forget his past though he misused it. For me, if I have my way, I'll scrap the state system of government so that they will be nothing like state governors again and also the senate and the house of reps will go too becos as we all know these are money wasters in this country. Instead, the local government chairmen will wield some of the powers that governors had and .make their local governments very strong so that they can directly fend for themselves and embark on projects of their choice. All The local government house speakers will come together every month to deliberate on national issues on part time basis and replace the full time national Assembly members who are just enriching themselves as d expense on Nigerians. |
