Nigeria has failed to qualify for the final of the football event at the Rio 2016 Olympics.

Samson Siasia’s U23 team were defeated by Germany by two goals to nil. Dream Team VI will now play Honduras on Friday for the bronze medal.

Here are 6 reasons why Germany emerged victorious against Nigeria.

1. Nigeria didn’t play with cohesion. The players didn’t play as a team.

2. Nigeria lacked experience. This is the first time many of the players will be playing at this level of football.

3. Germany’s players had more quality and technicality.

4. Nigeria’s defense was porous. Germany could’ve easily scored 4 goals.

5. Etubo’s absence. Nigeria missed its highest goal scorer who was out injured.

6. They didn’t have enough support from the Nigerian government. Their stay in Brazil has been stressful due to financial constraints.

They lost because they fielded Etebo for a match most of the top players should have been rested. What was the point field I g him after we got 6 points and already quified for quarter finals? Was he selfishly gunning for highest goal scorer award?

People are blaming Sadiq, yes he's sluggish but he was fielded for a reason ... to fall down in the 18 yard box he did dis in the first match but lost steam.

Overall it was a good team we had despite the frustrating preparations.
