Two pipelines belonging to the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company, NPDC, were in the early hours of Friday blown up by gunmen suspected to be Niger Delta militants.
Local community sources who confirmed the development, said about two pipelines operated by the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company were blown up at about 2am.

Although no militant group has openly claimed responsibility, local community sources however said a new militant group, Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate, was behind the attack.
Report equally revealed that a technical team of NPDC and security officials have been deployed to the area to prevent the spread of spilled crude to other communities.

To put things into some sort of perspective; the amount in billions lost as as a result of Niger Delta unrest in a month is bigger than the total amount budgeted for amnesty in a year! Essentially, if the Daurra disaster contineud funding the amnesty programme while doing the needful by exorcising himself of his clannish demons, we will have peace, kids from that area will have more trainings in schools both locally and internationally while learning skills that will put them in a better stead to help the economy later. But what do we have now? Bombs here and there, deepleting reserves / reveneu as Buhari sticks to his guns.
