Who cares about "giant of Africa"? Na that one we go chop? A small country of just 8 million people like Switzerland has a much bigger GDP than Nigeria and you are answering Giant of Africa.

You have a 70% porverty rate, no light, no water, roads that are death traps, staggering inflation and too much suffering and you are answering Giant of Africa. Nigeria is heading nowhere

it is only ipod, not igbos that want nigeria to break

I think with the exception of the Fulani and a cross section of Yoruba, if given the chance, everyone North and South want to answer their papa name or a name that reflects their African heritage- not the Nigga- Area given by Britain and upheld by low thinking African parents

Nigerians don't want to BREAK UP . Nigerians want REORGANIZATION. Adjust the Powers of our Central Government a little and add that little to the Powers of our State Governments. The Central Government should be responsible for those unifying factors and allow States to contribute to its costs of running those unifying constitutional responsibilities. Divide the Country into 6 Trade Zones

It's not just about the size. A nation's outing in any major international competition such as the Olympics, gives a general overview into its national values, work ethics and leadership.

You think the above medals na fluke?
I like that quote about religious nations how they continue praying even after Olympics Nigeria is still praying God to take other people hard end medals to give them on a platter.

It's never God's duty to build any nation.

We have left to God what should ordinarily be OUR OWN duty.

The shameful results speak for themselves.

If you divide Nigeria into six trade zones then born to rule would be the first to opt out because the only thing still binding this contraption is common economy and oil.

President of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC,
Ayuba Wabba, says “most countries” are
unhappy that Nigeria is the giant of Africa, and
will therefore be happy to see the country
disintegrate.
He therefore urged Nigerians not to succumb to
external forces working very hard to break up
the country.
Wabba, who made the appeal on Sunday while
fielding questions at a NAN forum, said that the
country’s size, population and natural
endowments are assets that many other nations
are envious of.

He expressed optimism that the current security
challenges and agitations “being fuelled and
funded by forces determined to undermine
Nigeria” would be surmounted.
“Our position is that we will not canvass the
issue of cannibalizing Nigeria into segments for
any reason or any consideration,” he said.
“It is in unity that our strength lies as a country.
We are today the giant of Africa; most countries
are not happy with that. They will do anything
possible to undermine our national interest and
also work towards the disintegration of Nigeria.
“That is a fact, and we see that as we travel
around the world. Even within the committee of
unions, people are envious of Nigeria. We must
not forget how people said Nigeria was going to
break by 2015 and you must not forget that they
are still working on that.
“They are still funding all manner of things and
trying to see that Nigeria does not actually have
peace; it is deliberate. There is no resource
today in the world that we do not have; they see
us as a country that is blessed without
measure.”
Wabba added that some African countries are
concerned that if anything happens to Nigeria,
their own fate becomes uncertain.
“Most of these conflicts are instigated,” he said,
citing the situation in Syria and other parts of
the Middle East.
“Therefore, it is in our own collective interest as
Nigerians, because we do not have any other
country. To continue to show the light and
perspective for others to see.”

Aren't you ashamed that despite your crippling hate for Nigeria you still rush to mouth off your useless sentiment in a pro Nigeria site begging patriotic Nigerians to notice your bleating and barking for secession. Patriotic Nigerian? What exactly is that? Someone who brings fresh flowers to the grave of Lugard to thank him for naming him after a River? Or someone who believes in the enforced unity of people? Educate us on what a patriotic Nigerian is.

where have you been? Welcome back. You (tonyebarcanista, dearpreye etc,) sensible guys have left opposition work to these miscreants, it's no more fun here.

Back to the issues. The problem of Nigerian not doing well at global sporting events is not in a anyway tied to nonavailability of athletes , but administrative hiccups and poor preparations.

Again, you and I know that football is the most celebrated sport in Nigeria- this has downwarped attention for other sports that have slot at the Olympics. This is why we don't usually do well in Olympic. That does not also take away the fact that we have produced some great Olympians in this country .

Among the countries you listed , Saudi is great in its own right- both economically and otherwise. Sport is not just their thing. It's not about being religious, imtiaz is wrong on that. China is religious, why did they win so many medals?

'administrative hiccups and poor preparations ' That's it.

We've been largely around but had to do a lot more on sidelines because the ethnic bashing suffocates me.

Back to the issue : it's same administrative hiccups annd poor preparations that have affected every other area of our nation life, be it the economy, politics, education, etc.

These nations that are doing extremely well in the Olympics are the same nations leading the economies of the world. They're nations built on hard work, focus, early preparations, sensible leadership, deep sense of nationalism, patriotism and courage - these are attributes scandalously missing with our nation.

As for Saudi, there are exceptions to every rule.

Of course!

How many sharks wouldn't salivate at the prospect of a bleeding, half-lame swimmer stranded on the high seas?

Like in the desert, we are already out of water wandering around aimlessly without a compass and still lying to ourselves that every political-mirage is an ocean. Which vulture would not salivate at the sight of that?

Pray for Nigeria, folks!
And stop making &backing bullshyt choices; "stoopidity" has a low survival rate in the 21st century.
If you don't get it right, hommies, this country will break. And no amount of gworo-chewing threats will stop or bring it back!
That's why my dual nationality's a priority right now; in case y'all mofos furrk up and botch your "Naigeriyam Dream"!

That's what they've been telling us since primary school days but unfortunately many of us in the south especially have been able unlearn that nonsensical propaganda.

The day the british concocted lugardian contraption shatters into pieces is the day the black man become truly free. Buhari can buy a thousand war helicopters as people starve in IDP camps but that won't change the fact that nigeria (like buhari's life) has a beginning and an end.
