They are off-shots of the Peul ethnic group, with language links to Wolof and Serer. The Somalis on the other hand are an ancient afro-asian ethnic group that originated in the Horn of Africa. They are closely related to Ethiopian and Eritrean populations (don't remind them of that though), and have NO relation to Fulanis whatsoever.
