Ruto has solid record since he was mp in 1990s..listen first. To reach where he is now from deep poverty at age of 55 he has proven himself..he delivers .Ruto by early 20s was doing great things because he great orator, hardworking, natural leader, go getter and name it.He has phd science and is great businessman himself...the man is incredibly hardworking and incredibly brilliant..in the mould of Meles Zenawi the late Ethiopian leader.Ruto is not prof Lumumba who talks a storm mimicking 1960s civil rights leaders ..Ruto has very impressive track record..he is his office by 5am and work extremely hard until midnight everyday.

Well, I wish your candidate the best, but don't forget about the reality in your country(fiscal, political etc)

Plagiarized from brain dead Azimio.Kenya kwanza has assembled 250 experts and will come up with 49 manifesto..one for each county, diaspora, then national one and 7 sector charters. Its unlike anything that has been done before in Kenya. And they will be SMART.. realistic plans. And it's core is bottom up strategy where everything starts from common man..not vendor driven proposal of before that create projects for Chinese contractors for rent seeking. This will be the major departure from previous manifesto with lessons having been learnt. If it's healthcare it will start at dispensary, if school at local base school, if transport from motor bikes, if housing from guys living in slums n kayoles, etc.Once this is done the impact on economy will be enormous and Kenya gdp will triple in a decade to 300b if not earlier

I dont understand why anyone falls for David Ndii's cheaponomics??. Everything Ruto said was straight outta Ndii's convoluted medulla, verbatim!

Do you really think you are getting a good deal when given that free mobile phone for switching service providers, if a multinational retailer undercuts its competitors or by the fact that food is relatively cheaper today in many countries than ever before?

Think again! Cheapness is an illusion. The real cost of low prices is alarmingly high. It is shown for example that citizens are frequently subsidizing low prices through welfare support to poorly-paid workers in their own country, or relying on the exploitation of workers in poor countries for cheap goods. Environmental pollution may not be costed into goods and services, but is paid for indirectly by people living away from its source or by future generations. Even with private cars, when the total costs of this form of mobility are tallied it proves to be an astronomically expensive model of transportation. All of these costs need to be accounted for.

The key point is that costs and risks are socialised: we all pay for cheapness, but not at the point of purchase. Drawing on a wide range of examples and issues from over-consumption and waste to over-work, unemployment, inequality, and the depersonalising of communities, it is convincingly shown that cheapness can no longer be seen as such a bargain. Instead we need to refocus for a better sense of well-being, social justice and a balanced approach to prosperity.

interesting I was opposed to Ndii for long.i first met Ndii when he came to see my partner in our business..both from Oxford.. Africa economies under tutelage of the well regarded prof Paul Collier..but like Ruto I have come to appreciate his intelligence.Countries that suceeded tapped their brain to come with plans but left them out of implantation.Ndii is intelligent. There is no doubt among Kenya top brains include prof peter nyongo and David Ndii..later from legendary school of economics of Chicago university and Oxford university under the tutelage of prof Paul Collier. It shame prof peter nyongo the father of lupita nyongo and arguably Kenya best brain has been reduced to worshipping the school dropout Raila.Ruto himself a PhD is bringing the best of Kenya top brains

Ruto's 5yr plan for Kenya. 66 pages Solid plan full of numbers that reflect the work of 258 experts - most of them the best in their fields. Far cry from the joke that Raila presented that was heavy on generics.

Biggest departure - there will be barely any big ticket project - almost zero mega project unless someone comes with their own money and build it - Ruto is proposing to split the money small & medium business if not directly back to the people.

There will also be almost zero debt to be taken - revenues expected to double - and the budget to balance in 3yrs.

Overally Dr David Ndii fingerprints are all over in this radical plan that turns on it's head conventional ways that Kenya has been doing things - it almost revolutionary

Some of the highlights.
- Fix agriculture by investing 250B kshs in 5yrs - give farmers guarantee minimum returns linked to crop/livestock insurance - eliminate food imports.
- Introduce GMOs - first with BT Cotton.
- Provide 50B fund for SMES at every ward level - to provide cheap single digit loans.
- Fix manufacturing by focusing on small informal manufacturing - rather than large manufactures. Link manufacturing to agricluture.
- Increase mortgages from 30,000 to a million in 5yrs - by building affordable and standardized housings - gov will spend almost zero - providing land to develops who will build them and sell them cheaply.
- Electrify public transport - through public buses/motorbikes. Focus on mass transit.
- Energy - focus on charcoal/wood fuel - instead of imported LPG - build the charcoal value chain and decriminalize it.
- Increase fiber network from 10,000kms to 100,000kms. kenya is already ahead of many places including Europe - so this revolutionary - in Africa algeria has 110K out of 1 million kms of fiber - but Algeria is huge country. The fiber will be laid to the existing electricity network - meaning very little investment - just dragging the fiber alongside the electric cable.
- Fix tourism by focusing on low budget traveller/touriss and shifting kenya branding as high end tourist product.

The genius leading Dr Ruto revolutionary plan is David Ndii - one of Africa best economicts - Rhodes scholar with Phd from Oxford university. Dr Ndii with Prof Nyongo the father of Oscar actress Lupita Nyongyo (Phd Chicago school of economic) crafted the 2005 Kenya economic recovery plan- that saw Kenya reduce debt to gdp from 60% to 30% - and Kenya had a balanced budget in 3yrs - from Moi decades of mismanagement.

If his partnership with Ruto who is equally brilliant and can make things happen LAST - Kenya will get out of current doldrums and soar again in 2-3yrs.

Kenya took huge turn in 2005 because we had brilliant Kibaki (London school of economics- MA) as President, Prof Nyongo (Phd political economics from School of Chicago) as Planning Minister and Dr Ndii (Phd in African Economics Oxford) as the consultant economist drafting the strategy papers - without doubt Chicago, Oxford & London schools of economics are the best in the world - and with combination of the trio kenya economy boomed - despite 2007/2008 ethnic violence - growing to 10% in 2010 - and now we are back to problems due to COVID/Ukraine - and Uhuru total mismanagement - and we need to reboot the economy.

Now once again it's time for kenya lacking any natural resources or huge arable land to turns to it's brain - or we are dead. We could go into Moi era lost decade of 1990s.

Example - Kenya already africa leader in milk production - can double milk production in short term by investing in animal feeds.
Dr Ndii -> The illustration we have used is increase by 0.5 kg per cow x 2.2m cows x 300 days = 330m kg p.a worth Sh13b @ Sh40/kg. This we can do in months with nutrition. From 2.5 to 10, you need genetics which will take 3 years between insemination and lactating cow.

The signs are all over. Ghana is going to be amongst the first to fall unless it changes tact. The Ukraine-Russia war look set to continue for sometime - and so many economies will collapse unless they change. To change tact...require very tough leadership...soon forexs are going to run short. Countries need to cut down on ANY capital investment in the medium term. Stop building roads or dams ASAP. Cut development budget to zero. Focus on stimulus package that can inject money to the economy - think about reducing imports to bare minimum - try to keep the economy running until this Ukraine-Russian-NATO - COVID mess is clear.

Most importantly Africa need a unified response to this - because if every country run to IMF - then they will be eaten alive. First there has be a moratorium on debt repayments to rich nations until they settle their wars. The forex are running short. Commodities globally are expensive - so you need double the dollars to buy the same things.

one thing is noticing a problem, admitting there's a problem then finding a solution to the problem.
In the case of ghana, they care more about LOOKING GOOD ON PAPER so as to keep a certain IMAGE to foreigners then use propaganda to manage the local population.
The truth of the matter is, this economy has been sick since 2017 and every honest Ghanaian with tell you so.
They have been cooking the books using different methods then turn around to blame covid, Russia/Ukraine when anybody that's a part of the economy knows there's been a fundamental problem.
The organization I work with is a major player of the economy and we know that a day like this will come cos we do selling and have been since the last 12yrs. We can tell when the economy is buoyant by the numbers of people that buy things from us.
This very economy have been on life support since 2017 and got worse before around 2019 but some populist stunts were pulled to confuse the people for political gain.. I.e. free water and electricity.

Agreed - you can tell from their 500% plus cedis depriciation since 2017. Ghana looks good on paper until you look at the pictures on the ground. Then you examine it's macro-economics - cedis depreciation that is crazy, inflation, interest rate, very expensive prizes for everything -despite gold, oil and bauxite.

I think only difference btw Kenya and many countries - we start shouting when things start turning south

How will stimulus package inject money into the economy

How will stimulus package inject money into the economy
When people sense a long winter is coming they stock up, they tighten their belts, they save up, they stop spending, they make a bad situation worse, because the economy already in tight spot now go into spiral, when monitary measure fails like lowering interest rate fails, as no one is borrowing anyway, you only option is to stimulate the economy by injecting money directly into it, that hopefully will stimulate spending that increase demand & eventually reduces prices and that is stimulus package..so gov instead of building roads now.. should figure out how to throw money to back to the people..lower taxes, increase salaries..divert all capital intensive project into social programs..with more money people will keep spending and economy will churn along. When the storm is over go back to investing in infrastructure. This is what everyone is doing.Africa is waiting for imf to finish them

I have said this countless times, our Current Government is a cluessless- wasteful Government but surprisingly over 70% of our opinion leaders are quiet about it, they don't want to talk because their political party is in power. For the first time in our history media stations, Church leaders, Chiefs etc are all afraid to speak out grin grin grin grin grin

Why should a Government that has borrowed more than what all past Presidents borrowed still go to IMF? very sickening angry shocked
Whenever I hear some Africans praising our President I just laugh because to me this is the most arrogant and useless President in the history of Ghana.

Every discerning and truthful Ghanaian knows what landed us in IMF again. Its simple, our Government borrowed so much and instead of them investing the monies in infrastructure and sectors that will generate more money to pay off our debts they rather shared the monies among themselves and used little for the Free SHS programme and built some few projects here and there and they paraded their party sycophants and fanatics to hail them on thinking God will send down extra monies for the running of the country.

They made sure to bribe a good number of opinion leaders( thus Church leaders, chiefs, party members, high profiled Media personalities& owners, the Judiciary, party MP's, some security officials etc) to help do their bidding.

For me Im not surprised at all cos I saw this coming. I knew from day one that our current President is an old clueless arrogant man who has nothing good to offer to the good people of Ghana. He talks too much but delivers little.

Hmmm truth is for all our sakes the Ukraine-Russia war has to be resolved very soon or else everyone is going to chop breakfast like Ghana at the moment Nigeria and Kenya included.

Your President started out well but he's lost the plot lately. Using state resources to build a church when there is an economic crisis shows just how unserious he is.

Just one Cathedral building cannot be the cause of our Economic woes, they have mismanaged our economy.

Every sensible Government uses borrowed monies for their intended purposes, they don't squander borrowed monies but not our Government. The money will finish but the project will not be done.

During Covid this Government borrowed more than any African country yet our inflation, prices of goods and services keeps going up (situation keeps getting worst) than countries that did not even borrow.
Is Ghana the only country affected by Russia-Ukraine war?

We are in this mess because of one-arrogant-clueless President and his good for nothing appointees
