Austine1213:Of course, it matters who owns what. Black South Africans own too little in that country of yours. Let's put that aside. Why is it that we see no black founded South African companies outside South Africa? Look at this map of Africa, that's where Helios, a company founded by two Nigerians have footprints. 2 Likes

obaaderemi: 1.South africans in particulaly black south africans are new in the game mostlt came after 26 years. 2. MTN, DSTV, NASPERS, are majority black owned, while companies like SASOL are state owned 3. Compare what black south africans have been able to achieve in the last 26 is simply epic 4. There are so many black owned companies in other countries The main thing is regardless who owns what, money is returned to the country, infrastructure, fintech, business grants,,, are given regardless whether its from black, white, indian south african. 3 Likes |

Austine1213:Naspers and the others still put more money in the pockets of the white minority than the black majority. Check out the shareholding of Naspers for example. PIC, which represents millions of blacks and also whites owns just about half. Bottom line is that the economy largely is still dominated by whites, who are minority. Blacks in South Africa need to build their own brands instead of hiding under the wings of apartheid era companies. 2 Likes |

obaaderemi: Nah i think you should check more of international economics n not base your point of view on your own country's economics, beliefs and politics. If you check out south africa the way is being structured, it involves more inclusivity. Focused more on nation building, country's development more on social wellbeing of citizens. When you view SA compare how it it was 1994 to now, you'll see black SA is doing far greater, when compared to other countries There are many black south african multinationals in africa and you know South Africa recent history i don't know why you even question some things. Fact of the matter we doing greater in our first 26 years of democracy compared to any african country 2 Likes |

Austine1213:Which inclusiveness does South Africa have? South Africa is the most unequal country in Africa. Check out unemployment rates between blacks and whites. There's a lot to question in all African countries and South Africa is no exception. After 26 years of black rule, you are not doing as well as you ought. But comparing yourself to other black African countries would make it look like you are doing well. You appear to be doing well because the white settlers already invested resources into the land and already put the foundations in place for your economy. Check the champions of South African industry, they are all companies started long ago during apartheid. 2 Likes |

Austine1213:Black South Africans are great. We all respect what you guys did, braving the guns and dogs of the Boers to take your country back politically. But what would really give you more respect is taking your country back economically. You need to start your own brands. Talking of brands, there were talks of starting a black Naspers some years ago. How far? 2 Likes |

14:PIC manages funds for about 1 million south Africans, including a few whites. That's not very significant in a 50m populated country. Now that's not the problem. It's still quite impressive if it has $200bn under its belt. That's like times three of the economy of a country like Kenya. The problem is that the PIC is corrupt and puts a lot of money into the pockets of few elite blacks. It's not very inclusive, meaning it's not the answer to the question of inequality in South Africa. |
Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by obaaderemi: 5:33pm On Oct 13, 2020 |
Austine1213:What do you want me to know? You started it all by saying Nigerians don't own companies in other countries except drug and kidnapping rings. And I told you the South African companies we know are all white- founded. At least Nigeria has big companies founded by Nigerians. One of those companies is an employer of labor in south Africa. PIC is like BEE, a way to help blacks own parts of white founded South African companies. The only thing I want you to teach me now is major South African companies founded by blacks and not PIC investing in MTn, Shoprite, etc. 2 Likes |
