Nigeria’s northern opposition leader and national chairperson of the Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP), Balarabe Musa, has called on Nigerians to protest against President Muhammadu Buhari and his administration, Naij reports.
Balarabe alleged that Buhari’s administration had failed in ensuring food security in the west African country.
He said that hunger was a powerful tool to instigate protests, adding that Nigerians had a right to protect their interests through demonstrations.

“Well, they [Nigerians] should protest. I know that it is a risk because security men may shoot them. However, they should protest because this is their life. Somebody is playing with their lives, somebody is destroying their lives, they should defend their lives and protect their interest.
“There is hunger in the land and Nigerians are dying of hunger,” Balarabe was quoted as saying.
The development followed just a few days after Emeritus Archbishop of Lagos, Cardinal Anthony Okogie, addressed an open letter to Buhari on the state of the nation, pleading for the president to intensify his efforts in solving the current economic crisis and alleviating the scourge of hunger facing the nation.
“Remember that you cannot put a crown on your head. It is the people who put it on you. Otherwise one day, you will get tired of it. Please listen to the legitimate cries of your fellow citizens,” Cardinal Okogie’s letter read in part.
