There are very few things in life that is as satisfying as getting a job soon after graduating from University. As such, it isn’t strange to see entry level employees suddenly feel they have ‘arrived’ and can now enjoy all the “good things” that comes with life. http://nairametrics.com/things-never-buy-rush/ 28 Likes 6 Shares

so true....however it doesn't even end with this list in Nigeria. once you get a decent job here....aaah!!! watch how financial pressure builds from family members, friends who aren't fortunate yet to get one and, if you are a man, girlfriend. you must be extremely wise and financially prudent to be able to manage the situation without offending them and getting along with your resources as well. 21 Likes 1 Share |

OP this thread is instructive.New employees should not engage in flashy things to show that they have arrived. One way of investing 'excess cash' is in properties and genuine small scale start ups that you can manage at spare time. Many people want to do every thing at retirement because they never planned their lives.Have a sytematic terminal goal of what you want to achieve as an employee and when to exit. Many work and are enslaved because they lavished and ate all during the time of plenty.God bless our hustles! 5 Likes 2 Shares |

I really don't understand Nigerians. They spend money they don't have To buy things they don't need To impress people that they don't even like. 40 Likes 3 Shares |

Spot on OP. You will see some entry level employee pumping all their salaries into building a house, only to beg to borrow 1,000NGN to feed few days after receiving their salary. It would have been a better investment if upon completion, it would yield reason return on investment but no it can't because most of the time, the building are always in a remote area if not a village where people are even beg to stay in the building and maintain it in return. Poor financial decision i must say. Don't be fool, even when there are no available land when you have the money to build, you can always buy a house and demolish to rebuild. Landlords do not need to desire to sell their buildings, you can always bid. Every man has a price, find their price...that's my philosophy 6 Likes 1 Share |

A HTC ONE M9 which cost N112k in December last year...now cost above N170k A Hyundai Elantra cost about N4.6M last year....it's over N6M now... OP, you should never make sweeping statements. What you've listed up here applies in a normal environment. Nigeria is not a "normal" environment. 4 Likes 1 Share |
