The irony of the whole thing is that, within Ogun state itself, the Egbas ( Abeokuta) don't want their children to marry the Ijebus and Vice versa: a friend of mine, an Egba guy, had to beg his parents profusely before they reluctantly blessed his relationship with the Ijebu lady...They have been married for years now....

thanks but I am actually from Oyo state.
I am from Oyo state married to an Ijebu man born and bred in Lagos. The sole reason why Oyo parents frown at the choice of Ogun ladies especially home-grown Ijebu ladies is because it's believed they have the tendency to completely severe the man from his relations.
If you observe rightly, Oyo people cherish extended family relationships a lot. I grew up knowing all my first, second cousins, aunts, uncles (both paternal and maternal). They want a woman who will preserve the link.

It's stereotype though. Your fiance may be different. Besides I have met a number of wonderful women from ogun.

According to what my grandma said...there is a curse laid down for any Ondo/Ekiti marrying from Ogun. If they disobey, either d man or the woman will die untimely and I think v seen like 2 cases. so @op if u're frm Ondo/Ekiti and u really luv ur Ogun woman, 'll advice u pray very well to break every ancestral curse cos with God all things are possible.
Wow so this was what happened to my uncle's wife who died untimely and in a mysterious manner as well.. ..my uncle is from Ondo while his late wife was from ogun. ...
May God keep us free of and free from the shackles of ancestral curses

Amen o, only God knows what those people did that they had to place a curse on themselves that their generations are now suffering the consequences.

@Op I beg you in the name of anything you serve pls dont marry from Ogun state .

Be it Ijebu Egba awori or anyone from Ogun state.

My reasons ? They are as promiscous as a dog.

Both men and women.

Thier married women specialise in having multiple partners even as married women. Worst case is that thier parents will even encourage them to do it.

I am from Ibadan and I have been living in Abeokuta for the past 6 years.

Even in church and my place of work. Their women and men are as promiscous as anything

Trust me on this ....I wish you the best

UHHHM gosh I am short of words to respond to this post.

grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin I have heard it all

I guess this curse is selective cos I know an ekiti woman that has been married to an ijebu man for 36 years, I guess the curse is still gathering momentum grin grin grin grin grin grin

Your people's fears are rooted in facts. These women tend to be promiscuous, unsubmissive and uncooperative. Maybe you should live 6months in Ogun state and see for yourself if these beliefs are unfounded or have some merit to them.

Don't get me wrong, this behaviour isn't specific to Ogun women but there's hardly one without a history of promiscuity, and/or multiple marriages, etc. I can't say much about Osun, Ondo, Elitist women. Na the one wey I know I done talk so.

Funny enough ( and I am half ijebu/ half lagosian and before people start there are indigenous lagosians wink) all those tend to things you listed can be ascribed to lagos girls as well. Just add also not being able to cook to the list undecided

Oh well , stereotypes are part of human nature jare.

Sebi all Yoruba men are demons tongue tongue so we the ijebu/ogun/lagos ladies are just towing the path of our men wink

I hear you, however, stereotypes aren't unfounded suppositions. At the very least, one should investigate the veracity of these claims in general and in their intended. I'm sure there are good and bad people in every tribe and dismissing one set of people carte blanche isn't very intelligent.

But why e be say na bad tins una come dey follow? Una no fit transform us to angels ni? angry
