If the story goes as you put it. Clearly, they don't have much respect for you. You should have slapped her back right there and then, even if you were wrong. No sane adult corrects another with a slap unless s/he doesn't have regard for the person. Arranging people to beat her up might make her fear you though, but it shows how timid you are in the long run. 1 Like |

No justification for being slapped and humiliated in front of a parent. Write a resignation letter its d only noble thing to do. |

MzPecs: So he deserves d slap cos he stood up to his dignity? This kind woman go dey beat her husband for house. Ladies are fond of doing to others wat they can't take. Brother, don't revenge, it's part of life shi.ts, take it and let it go, but watch ur way wit d HM, never allow such situation to repeat itself and perhaps apologise to d parent cos any woman wud av done d same. Malice no good tho. DO NOT APOLOGISE to the HM and DO NOT REVENGE |
Re: I Was Slapped By My Employer by AreaFada2: 6:29am On Sep 29, 2016 |
OP, your story is incomplete. Did you beat the child? Did the child get injured? Complete that part. If you did beat the child, then you were wrong. Once the parent knew about it, you should have gone straight to the HM and tell her your side of the story. At least she would have heard your version. Then you showed a bad attitude to the parent. It is not even whether you were wrong or right. The customer is simply the king. Even moreso in a private school, a competitive business. Teaching may not be your calling. Because it is a proper profession that requires proper education/training. That include people skills & techniques to deal with troublesome kids. Not just because there is no other job for now. If parents withdraw their kids from your school, HM cannot pay bills & salaries. As it is, if you want to keep the job, just mellow. Especially your action in the "incident" was wrong. But start looking for another job. If your action was legally correct & you do not want the job anymore, go see a doctor to get an official certification. Then take legal action against your HM. For distress & pain inflicted on you. Take no illegal action like getting her beaten up. It can easily become hiring killers if you are unlucky. |

I laugh at the way some people said she deserves the slap and these same ladies especially will be the one to shout no man has d right to beat/slap a lady even of she's rude or did something bad......your hm has no right under d sun to slap u for any reason and if Carr isn't taken that's d beginning of more slaps to come op....its really painful cos u r scared of been sacked here.....next time comport yourself and don't take shit u won't wanna take from anybody....Pele baby 1 Like |

MzPecs: No one deserves to be hit for miss understandings. OP, it was a bad move to keep malice with a pupil's parent. Haba, if I we're that parent, I would withdraw my Ward or get the class changed. If he keeps malice with me the parent who can deffend myself, then he must be treating my child who is helpless in school like a lepper. How can the child even focus and learn? A simple apology would have resolved most of the initial problem but you dragged it until it exploded out of your control. Sorry, go talk to your Him. He should call another meeting with you and the woman and apologize to you while you and the woman make peace. |

telemapreye1: My people are judgemental, I don't care what you did in this case, like everyone saying you omitted what you did, nothing warrant a slap from an employer. They even refuse to see where you blamed death, well I just want you to be strong and keep pushing, keep doing your work while you search for another. I'm so sorry dear, please don't revenge Leave the HM and the woman to karma |

MzPecs: Na wa for you. How can you slap an adult because she works for you ? Why are you supporting what is wrong ? In a civilised world, she could sue the employer of millions but in Nigeria it's not so. I'm not supporting what the lady who was slapped either. She could have handled the situation better before it escalated. 1 Like |

MzPecs: You started well but ended poorly, well what do I expect from a female... I am very sure the HM was a female, Females lose their tempers and likes to proof themselves when they are put to head or own an organization, No matter what, the HM has no right to slap her employee, She has no right at all... Instead of revenge, arrest him for assault... One happened hete in Ilorin and the HM paid painfully for the assault... What happened to sack or punishment by deducting salary or probably other allowances but SLAP is a NO NO NO |

"You had an incident with the child you didn't know that his 6years old sibling was watching " isn't that statement indicting enough If I were to be the parent in question the school will have to choose between you and my child |

MzPecs: na your type dey pour hot water on house girl sake of say dem make ur pikin cry. what kind of HM would do that to her employee, what happen to official ways of addressing erring staff and subsequent dismissal if the service is no longer needed? |
Re: I Was Slapped By My Employer by Iseoluwani: 8:43am On Sep 29, 2016 |
MzPecs: Schools are in competition, the HM was just trying to impress the woman who pays him School fees. He doesn't want to loose customer But still slapping is not allowed. Suppose say na advance country, he will loose his job n license sef. We have teaching Rules which must be followed |
Re: I Was Slapped By My Employer by DrMuzungu(m): 8:46am On Sep 29, 2016 |
let me get straight to the point. Physical contact between the employer and the employee should be forbidden, except if it is by accident (like handing over the documents, tools etc). In the OP's particular case, what I would do is to wait for like a month or so, for things to become forgotten... then gather some brothers, male cousins and friends, and nicely ask them to explain to the eediot employer that it is not nice to slap anyone, and especially not a woman and to, if possible, do all that in front of all his staff. |

Re: I Was Slapped By My Employer by guyla: 9:13am On Sep 29, 2016 |
@Dr Muzunga, it is not nice to slap an employee, but it is worse to have an employee that kills the business that feeds you, what guts she had to keep malice with the parent of a child she teaches, obviously she is not teaching that child despite the huge amount we pay as school fees in recent times, How does she report the child's progress to the woman she deliberately would not say good morning to every morning she brings her child to school |
