It's amazing to me wht Nigerians are saying about the Edo elections. I am not here to debate on whether the elections were rigged by the APC or propaganda was being used before, during and after the election by the PDP to make the APC appear like an unpopular "not on the ground" party in Edo. There is definitely no honor amongst thieves but as it were in Edo state, Obaseki of the APC was riding on the successes he thought he recorded as being the right hand of Oshimole as leader of the economic team that was a think thank for the government adjudged to have done fairly well in the last 8years that judgment is relative anyway. Ize-Iyamu on the other hand, having being the engine room of the worst administration( He was SSG) and endorsed by the worst governor Edo state will ever have Lucky igbenedion, was looking forward to becoming Edo governor taking advantage of the ill-will being sufferd by the Buhari led administration. Edo may be part of Nigeria but Ize-Iyamu and the PDP should have known Edo is not Nigeria. The courts will eventually decide who the Edo governor is ultimately but before then, Obaseki is governor and he knew who is opponent was before the election, Ize-Iyamu an the PDP are aggrieved but certainly didn't know who their opponent was before the election. They were playing the " Opportunist" game thinking Buhari's badluck at the center will be used to sway the Edo voters. They tried, it worked a bit for them but couldn't get them the Governorship. I expect the PDP in ondo to take a lesson from this, sell your candidate and campaign well. Don't think you can use Buhari's ill-will at the center to win an election in a component unit. The election at the state level must mainly be about achievements an possibilities in that state first. The mention of the federal government should come negatively or positively as "Jara" just like the APC and Oshimole did in Edo positively.
