I agree with all of your suppositions, particularly the fact that we have been conquered to be ashamed of our religion as Africans and all what not. All true.
But why exactly are you NOT bowing to shrines and images if you feel unconquered? that would have helped your argument a long way: but you go to church and bear a Christian or English name.
You see, your arguments would have been very tenable if Christianity were just another religion- even the people who brought it had no idea what they were holding,(it was simply a means to an end) little wonder we are exporting back to them what they think they brought to us, in its pristine ans power-packed form. Christianity-true Christianity isnt a religion. Its a way of life.
Truth remains that Jesus said i am the way, the truth and the life. You want to go to heaven when you die, Jesus is the only answer. like it or not, say all you want to, disagree all you want to, the truth is like super glue: it sticks to stay.

Nigeria is a very backward and crude country. Nollywood shows it. Their narratives are fit only for unsophisticated and crude minds and that's why they're popular across Africa. The so-called "sales" they make in Europe and the Americas is from the crude same Africans that emigrated there. Oyibo would have watched for curiosity sake only to come out re-assured that Africans are apes. They have no capacity for subtlety even in the "modern" types of titles (i.e the ones not set in village settings). It insults my intelligence to watch and I certainly don't watch and my opinion of anyone who is a disciple of Nollywood drops precipitously whenever I find out. Some will say "why not encourage your own?" so you think anything a Nigerian does for economic reasons is by definition good and must be encouraged? Ok, why not go all out and encourage hardcore porn by the few ones raring to go (Afrocandy comes to mind). The truth is you can't just support any endeavour because it generates money. Music, movies and the entertainment industry in general and the values they introduce and reinforce in Nigeria are WHOLLY negative. You people should be glad our big men have contrived to shut me out of influencing what's going on in Nigeria or else it would have been a far far different place from what it is today. Nigeria is in the wrong place and is accelerating further in the wrong direction. Una never see anything yet!

I was reading and laughing all along as some of the comment are indicative of the root cause of the problem.
Well done for trying sha. Me?, I gave up a looooooong time ago.

My brother, accept one unpalatable truth :- (Most) Africans are inferior. Just read some of the comments on this threads and you have your proof. The way we act, speak and carry ourselves are manifestations of thought, and I'm afraid we are sadly lacking.

Look dispassionately at the condition of individual countries in Africa, the continent as a whole and our standing in the world and tell me we are 'equal' to other peoples.

No one has taken our arms, natural strength or eyes away, but it seems that (and we too, by our continued thoughtlessness have allowed it to pass from one generation to the next) our ability to think for ourselves is damaged beyond repair.

When you then come on Nairaland and see what supposedly 'educated' people put forth as thought, you realise the downward spiral is terminal.

Look, just concentrate on educating younger people around you/immediate family. Honestly, you'd be wasting your time otherwise.
