SHEY NO BE MONEY THEM DE USE MAINTAIN THEM...?
Too many kids on Nairaland these days

The 10 aircraft in the fleet are:

1× Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) 737

1× Gulfstream G550

1× Gulfstream G500

2× Falcon 7X

1× HS 4000

2× Agusta139

2× Agusta 101

PMB will probably be transferring the last 2 Augusta Helicopter to be weaponised and use by the Air force isn't a bad idea unless wailers are still looking for loopholes to wail further.

Paramount Group a RSA company that combines security services and security hardware or systems to arrive at complex solutions did same modification on NAF Augusta Helicopter, and that same helicopter have seen several battles. In fact it was recently used in destroying illegal oil refinery in the ND.

Paramount owns Drakensberg that has partnered with a Nigerian firm to produce the MEKAHOG MRAP for the police.

Oga, what @tit meant was that the planes are flown and maintained by NAF. NAF pilots fly them.. handing them over only means NAF would be using them for non-presidential movements

....... and costing the nation more money?

Now Buratai's wife and kids can also have a chance of flying in the jets.

This is commendable. Having 12 presidential jets is an unnecessary waste of resources in this period of recession. A good leader leads by example. Change has truly began with this move by buhari to curb waste. GEJ should have reduced the fleet but he is too corrupt to think in that direction. Some call you a dictator but if dictatorship is what is required to sanitize the system you have the support of sane Nigerians. Invade the home of looters, break their doors and safes with sledge hammers, brutalize them with your DSS and make them pay for short changing the state. We must sanitize the country for the upcoming generations. God bless Buhari for sacrificing his comfort for the masses. We are grateful sir
God bless you ojare, I stand with Buhari. Change begins with me!

Barring any last-minute change in plan, President Muhammadu Buhari will on Monday hand over some aircraft in the Presidential Air Fleet to the Nigerian Air Force, SUNDAY PUNCH has learnt.

A top Presidency source told our correspondent on condition of anonymity that the handover ceremony would hold at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

Although the source was not forthcoming on the number of aircraft to be handed over to NAF, it was learnt that at least two of such presidential jets would be presented to the air force.

The source said, “I can confirm to you that based on the directive of the president, the commander of the Presidential Air Fleet will hand over some aircraft in the fleet to the Nigeria Air Force on Monday. The handover ceremony will be open to members of the public. President Buhari may be represented at the event by the minister of defence. It will hold at about midday on Monday.”

Out of the 10 aircraft currently in the fleet, only the Boeing Business Jet (Boeing 737-800 or Air Force One), is for the president’s exclusive use.

Others who fly aircraft in the fleet are Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; Aisha Buhari; Dolapo Osinbajo; Senate President Bukola Saraki; the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; ex-heads of state and top government officials on national assignments on behalf of the president.

If Burari wants to win back the heart of Nigerians, he should hand over the country back to us. Else, any other hand over na counterfeit.

Don't mind the lying president. Presidential Air Fleet (PAF) has always been managed by and in possession of the Air Force.

These people are really funny, they think everyone is as dull as them.

This is the SAME as keeping them in the presidential fleet, which has always been managed by the NAF. So..........
The promise Buhari made is to use them for the revival of the Nigerian Airways and fly our commercial flights like the citizens of the nation that he SERVES.
Has the promise CHANGED

GMB‬ Speech While Addressing Nigeria Community In The United Kingdom.

I Will Maintain a modest lifestyle as President -Muhammadu Buhari.

“One of the major killers of our economy apart from corruption is waste. Our scarce resources are being plundered away very carelessly and unnecessarily wasted. Let me give an instance, presently, there are more than 6 aircraft in the presidential fleet. What do you call that? Billions of naira is budgeted every year for the maintenance of these aircraft not to talk of operational cost and other expenses.

You may want to ask what a Nigerian President is doing with so many aircraft when a Prime Minister of Britain fly around using the same public aircraft like an ordinary Briton.

Go and check and compare with that of any developed country in the world, the office of the Nigerian President is a very expensive one inspite our high level of poverty, lack and joblessness. Despite all these, you still find a Nigerian Minister spending about N10billion to charter an aircraft for just one year. Now, for me, when we come into office, all these waste will be blocked and properly channelled into our economy. We intend for instance, to bring back our National carrier, the Nigerian airways. We shall do this by bringing all the aircraft in the presidential fleet into the Nigerian airways and within a year increase the fleet into about 20.

Aircraft and most especially helicopters can be lightly modified to perform combat missions. I gave you a picture of a modified Augusta helicopter above, besides some of these helicopters under the president fleet have the ability to carry external loads and some avionics to support the loads. I do know that such modification would lack features found in military aircraft such as ejection seats.

Toyota hilux is for private or rather non military use, but terrorists and some established military formations have found ways to install triopd on them to carry AA guns, enhance the suspension to support the extra weight.

what's commendable about handing over executive aircraft to the air force, will they be converted to fighter jets (with what money?) or be used by air force chiefs to gallivant around the world (maintenance: tax payers' money)? mind you, it has always been the air force that handles the fleet of the presidential jets. So, what comfort did he sacrifice exactly?!
can we be this naive?!
please open your eyes, don't let these people fool you

Of course, there is no question about whether it can be converted or not into whatever purpose.
The question is at what COST compared to other possibilities
