The problem with this exploding Smartphones is the lithium ion batteries used ....
Lithium ion battery are bound to explode whenever there is a thermal runaway and this is usually caused by design flaws or partial contact....

The only way out now is to dump lithium ion batteries in Smartphones for something more reliable.....
But unfortunately there is no better alternative yet.
