Recently on nairaland, I have been seeing debates on various conditions that must be satisfied before going into marriage. The likes of salary, prospects, love etc.

Now, going by the high rate of increasing childlesnes after marriages these days, wouldn't it be wiser to make sure your woman get pregnant before you wife her? What should one do if pregnancy is not forthcoming and time is going?

Please, cultural factors, religious factors etc. are highly welcomed in our arguments.

Bring it on!

(same applies to women, do you prefer taking in before saying I do).

If am getting you right, you are trying to say some people may get married without caring if they have kids or not.

If it is certain that both spouse will end up getting married, then its no big deal.

Of course I meant prospective husband and wife.

Wow! That's a big one. Am just trying to wrap my head around why anyone would want to live genuinely together forever without caring to have a child (even if it's one).

But like you said, people marry for different reasons.

It's a matter of what one want, not what society expect one to do or want.

For me, whoever I want to marry must get pregnant before I even propose marriage to her. All this I do just to avoid 'Super Story' and 'Stories That Touch The Heart'.

Baba do u know how many niqqas out there are fathering kids that ain't theirs?
All cos babe got preggy?

Usually the babe gets preggy & the real father doesn't accept the baby/ has no marriage prospects they immediately push it onto their other boo?

During service A friend of mine caught his babe 'pressuring' 2 men (him included) for marriage at the same time over a child that wasn't for either of them(I ain't kidding)

I pity men who don't do paternity tests even when married.

That's a personal thing. Course people get married for different reasons, but heck, I'm yet to see any Nigerian family who got married without wanting a kid.

Now that's a rarity!

Ain't ma fault. I hate hearing stories, especially boring stories or the one that can be avoided.

Test and drive is the in-thing, especially without condoms. wink wink

You are right! But even in marriage, a woman can still bring in a pregnancy from another man. That's if she is engaging in extra marital affairs.

However, the reason here for the woman getting pregnant is an intended one, it's not like pregnancy comes mistakenly. The guy intentionally impregnates her so as to be sure she can actually get pregnant.

Either ways, paternity test should be done with wisdom.

the question is, before saying i do, that is to say you both are getting married and want to start a family..that's why i said is a smart move.
read the question again.

Bearing children is not the sole purpose of getting married. Though, alot of people have/don't have reason why they get married. Some want to get married because of pressure from relatives, love, selfishness, to control sexual urge, while others get married just to fulfil a desire or need.
But for me, It's not proper to be pregnant before you get married just as it's not proper to defil the bed before marriage.
#Just my opinion though.
