Did you read the Post? There is nothing to over-ride. The President will not touch the Bill even with a long pole. The Act is dead on arrival!
30 days is already counting!! We are left with 28 days before the NASS takes a vote to pass the amendment into law.If the president does not veto it,it automatically becomes law in 30 days time and no new vote will be needed

under the watch of this so called change govt corruption is thriving

political leaders are taking laws into their hands by taking decisions without recourse to the constitution albeit using it as a bait withing political circle against perceived opponents.

things have gone so so bad, from judges giving judgements capable of setting a peaceful state ablaze to govt agencies carrying out activities that are not in consonance with the constitution.

this will not help us rather it takes us back to the dark days. we need good leaders especially at the very top most of whom are tyrants

MadamExcellency:
INEC did not just come into existence by virtue of the INEC Act but by the provisions of the 1999 Constitution.

Why is INEC operating with amended Electoral laws passed by NASS without endorsement from 2/3 of Nigerian States before implementation?
Electoral Act is just what it is, an Electoral Act and not INEC Act. The Act is majorly geared towards proper conduct of elections and the guidelines for conducting same and did not delve into the establishment of INEC by the Constitution. This is what the dubious amendment of the CCB/CCT Act did and thus is inconsistent with Provisions of the Constitution establishing the body.

Why did our legislooters amend CCT Act in unison, but they have never acted in the same manner and with the same speed in the amendment of our faulty constitution?

Corruption simply unites politicians of all ethnicities and religions.

What is written here isn't difficult to comprehend except anyone wants to be unnecessarily bias.

Simply put, the CCB Act is not independent of the Constitution since it's a creation of the Constitution. As such, any amendments to the Act must not contradict provisions of the Constitution. Any such amendment that runs contrary to constitutional provisions of the Act is NULL AND VOID.

Understood?
grin
Tell them. Maybe, they are yet to comprehend the purport of the Post.

The problem in Nigeria is when the oppressed are defending their oppressors daily, what else?
Children of pensioners whose parents died queuing for their legitimate pension will borrow N1000 data to come and defend the guy that looted the pension fund by shouting "due process"......And some are here also to defend the National Assembly on a very simple issue that is already NULL and VOID!

The NASS should lobby for 2/3 of 36 States to suspend CCB/CCT indefinitely. This is a 3Tier Democracy. If your right eye impedes your progress, pluck it out.

because the electoral act is consistent with the applicable sections of the constitution.

It seems you are ignorant about a lot of things.

GEJ left more than a 100 bills already passed by the National Assembly behind without assenting them.

Some have been passed as long as 2012. None of them have become law. None of them have become an Act, even though some have been passed by the National Assembly for the past 4yrs.

GEJ did not even bother to inform them if he was assenting or withholding assent. He just left the bills unattended to.

People are already lobbying PMB to assenting some of those bills and he doesn't have the time. I think he assented some few ones last year.

You are a clown. I'm not like you who sees everything as attacking the present government.

We know your type. The one who sees things as simple as telling buhari to form government, set up kitchen cabinet, appoint ministers as an attack on the buhari government.

Isn't the government failing already even with all your defense and tagging those who advise the government as corrupt.

My dear corruption is thriving and at its highest .
how do you mean corruption is fighting back?
you mean corruption fighting back corrupt people?

you went far by equating our lord Jesus christ with pmb

Nigeria is deeply rooted in corruption that the best a good leader can do is fighting it headlong within the instututions rather chasing perceives political opponents definitely they will fight back.

My brother there are so many corrupt people in this govt trying to fight corruption that is why it wont work.

my earlier quote on corruption thriving is based on experience ,if you are involved in the daily activities in this country you will know that corruption thrives everywhere in almost all the human engagements and activities

The only way the National Assembly can be stopped is to obtain an injunction from the Federal High Court within the case brought against the National Assembly. lt is clear that the bill passed is in conflict with the Nigerian Constitution. ln such cases the National Constitution takes preeminence. lf the President ignores the rascal legislators they can override his veto by two-thirds. Then it becomes law until quashed by the Supreme court which may take years.

You need to read the piece again.

There is no need for a Presidential veto because there is nothing to veto. The process followed by NASS in amending the CCT/CCB Act is void abinitio - meaning it is as if it had never been done. The only process that would be legal is the process of amending the constitution since the CCB/CCT is embedded in the constitution.

Oh dear!

To amend a constitutional provision you need the additional votes of 2/3 of 36 state Assemblies.
