It seems God is not against polygamy

Throughout the old testament, God allowed the Israelites to marry more than one wife(polygyny) eg Solomon, David etc. It seems God is not against it, he is silent about it.

But in the new testament Paul made reference to marrying one wife. This is contradictory. The church today don't allow polygamy. It is a sin

An aspect of God you need to understand is that He reveals Himself based on dispensation of generations He deals with.
The generation of mankind in Old Testament differs from ours as follows :
No remission for sin had been paid.
They worked with imperfect law
The son had not been revealed to reveal the true nature of father.
There was no baptism of Holy Spirit and it's indwelling.
Those men were natural men with limited and often occasional inspiration of Holy Spirit.
Hence the rule applies "to whom much is given, to whom much is expected.

Are you saying that in new testament(NT) God does not allow polygamy. If yes where is it in the NT.?

This only apply to church leaders and not to other Christians, It is referring to a Bishop, deacons etc. Non apply to others. Even the new testament is silent about this.

Before you comment always know that it's easier to believe a known lie than an unknown truth.

But if we look at the standard in the garden of Eden , it was monogamy ... If Gods plan was monogamy , he should have created wives for Adam instead of WIFE

its true he later tolerate polygamy, but that wasn't the original standard , consider this : many of the Israelites struggle with obeying many of what was written in the scriptures , how much harder will it be for them to obey the standard set in the garden of Eden ?

in fact you will notice that the scripture detailed the many hardship experienced in those polygamous homes . e.g Abraham , Sarah and her servant . Jacob , Lea , Racheal and their servants . rivalry and war




but when Jesus Christ came , the Lord set the original standard for his followers .

Even the new testament is silent about this.

Leaders are role models. The are supposed to be ideal prototype of finished product.
Jesus said greater work than he did we would do if we can attain to his height in faith.
Leaders lead by perfect example of what everybody should be. In other words they set the standard of perfection.
