That's great. We need technocrats as governors and not all this politicians who know nothing but to impoverish their state at the expense of their pockets. Let's vote out governors who dont know what to do with there states and vote in technocrats. No second term for olodo governors. Nigeria will get better beginning with anambra and lagos.

[quote author=investnow2013 post=50701810]Anambra is the new Kid in block when issue of Shoe manufacturing is concerned!!!. There are a lot of things going for any Shoe manufacturer in Anambra State which Aba can only dream of like Bigger Market/Population, Better Infrastructure, Money, Govt Support etc!!!!(see the picture of some of
. your bigger market point is open to debate, but you failed to realise that aba has a closer proximity to the south south and, is half a day away from Cameron.also by June next year, aba would have uninterrupted power supply .what obiano is doing is commendable and he should also include a leather tannery with appropriate machinery .you anambra guys should stop seeing every development in your sister states as inferior, it's very unhealthy to see what you peeps (from Anambra and imo) are doing on nairaland.

Making shoes is now an achievement?

It is an achievement and here's how. Let's take a cursory look at the manufacturing process and the economic benefit

From a manufacturing perspective, this would spur increase in raw material:
a. the leather made from skin hides
b. soles made from treated wood I believe
c. the machinery for cutting and sewing,
d. thread made from cotton and gum made from i don't know

All these would directly and indirectly cause a chain reaction to the economic benefit below

a. Create direct jobs for the economy. 1,300 shops equals to 1,300 self-employed individuals. We've not taken into consideration the extras they hire. So it's fair to say this would create at least 2,500 jobs directly. Indirectly, because we can't estimate, at least based on the points listed up, it would create a few thousands of jobs indirectly.

b. Source of revenue for govt. This may be minute, but if you look at the businesses that are directly and indirectly associated, this little venture you see today would boom to generate tens of millions in tax revenue for the govt.

c. Wealth. This is self explanatory, I don't need to explain it .

In a nutshell and to answer your question again,it's beyond achievement. This is exactly what Nigerians have been clamoring for: making a stable environment to for manufacturing and sustainability. If Buhari's govt focused on setting up small scale industries and supporting them instead of witch hunting them, Nigeria would experience tremendous (real) growth. You'd see our focus shift from imports to exports.

Finally, it's okay to criticize but if something is done right and very well, appreciate it. Nothing wrong in saying "good job".

Must you display your stupidity that is fuelled by ignorance here? Don't you know that every intelligent governor goes out to execute project base on the needs of his people or his environment, do you have shoe makers in enugu to require investiment on it like in anambra and abia? Enugu's needs now are: opening up its vast rural areas, building of infrastructure and attracting investiment both local and foreign which the governor is doing and the result are there to see. He organised the first enugu investiment summit that has started yielding fruit in billions of naira investiment.
