oglalasioux: you are wrong 123456789 including 0 owes its origin to India. The system was adopted by Arab mathematicians in Baghdad and passed on to the Arabs farther west and then to Europe. The numeral system came to be known to both the Persian mathematician Al-Khwarizmi, whose book On the Calculation with Hindu Numerals written about 825AD in Arabic, and the Arab mathematician Al-Kindi, who wrote four volumes, On the Use of the Indian Numerals (Ketab fi Isti'mal al-'Adad al-Hindi) about 830AD. Their work was principally responsible for the diffusion of the Indian system of numeration in the Middle East and the West. 1234567890 were previously called Arabic numerals (some erroneously still do ), and now they are called Hindu-Arabic or more appropriately/correctly Hindu numerals only. |

oglalasioux: plz read what u wrote u said/implied only 0 was added from india only, while rest was arabic, which is wrong and incorrect. the whole numerical 1234567890 was Indian invention which the arabs simply adopted and utilized. later when the Europeans adopted it , they thought that it was an arabic invention , however much later in the early 19 century the mistake was rectified when research showed it beyond doubt that the the arabs had nothing to do with the numerical systems invention , they merely facilitated the transfer of the existing knowledge of the Hindus/ancient India for themselves and the rest of the world. why do u think the name was changed from arabic numeric system to Hindu numeric system? however in recognition of the arabs role as a middlemen some still refer it as hindu-arabic numerical system. however this does not in anyway associate/confer the arabs with the invention of the numerical system. the sole credit for the invention of the numerical system lies with the Hindus/ancient Indians only . and what do u mean by copy paste ? u want to discuss historical facts based on assumptions or based on certified/proven facts/materials which r copy /paste of the original historical facts/materials/evidences etc. |

We are not an islamic nation. Why should the inscription be written in Arabic. Arabic is not a recognized language in Nigeria. As i look at that inscription, it means nofing to me. Whatever it is, it shld be written in English. |
