"It will also be the first time in the history of Nigeria that a person will be appointed to the office of the CJN in acting capacity. Under the Constitution, a person can only hold the office of the CJN in acting capacity for three months". Buhary, well done, we dey gbadun your CHAIN-JI. 24 Likes 3 Shares |

Whatever the case is, a northerner must no be appointed as CJN this time around. If he doesn't want Onnoghen as substantive CJN, he should simply appoint another Justice from the south to the position. 13 Likes 2 Shares |

seunmsg:Bigot alert. What happens to merit? We need to grow above this and go for the best. If the north has all the best hands for this administration, so be it. Btw, northern CJN has always been more reliable. The tradition should be retained. 18 Likes 2 Shares |

DickDastardly: You are entitled to your opinion and I am entitled to mine. So, I support Onnoghen or another qualified and competent justice from the south. I say NO to another CJN from the north after 29 straight years of northern domination. Beside, there is a well established tradition for the president to follow. 21 Likes 2 Shares |

seunmsg: No Seun, it would serve him better to honour the age old tradition & go with the flow.. He has no tangible excuse not to want him. J. Onnoghen has no scandal attached to his name, (at least publicly) & for what it's worth, the judge sided with him when he had his election challenge runs.... That ought to count for something. He should not listen to those "Aro Meta" that are hellbent on ruining his legacy & he too seems to be "helping" them achieve it. 3 Likes |

modath: Gbam. On Onnoghen I stand. The man Justice Onnoghen has some landmark judgments to his credit some of which include Amaechi vs Omehia, Atiku vs INEC, FG; Peter Obi vs INEC that gave rise to scattered elections, Yar'adua vs Buhari and more recently CCT vs Saraki where Saraki was to go and face his charges. Having said I still support the idea that Onnoghen should Act for now so that we Nigerians and PMB will access him.. .. if his performance during the acting capacity is impressive enough then the President will now forward his name to the Senate to be appointed in substantive capacity. 3 Likes

kcnwaigbo: KC, nitori olorun, why must you always say things that can never be substantiated? Why? How do you even come to these conclusions? It's "tradition" It's not "Law". How we do it not how it MUST be done. To simplify it, traditions all over the world prefer a man marries a woman before putting a bun in her oven, there is nothing in the constitution that will consign him to a jail sentence if it's not done... again, how it's proper not what can't be changed!! You get? 5 Likes |

Why will the new CJN be an acting one when such has never happened before? Obviously, Buhari and his Daura gang are up to some mischief. It is quite clear to discerning minds what the game plan is. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Sources told one of our correspondents that the decision of the President might be connected with an ongoing investigation by security agencies into some allegations involving some Justices of the Supreme Court. I knew this must be the reason. Those judges just have to be thoroughly investigated. We don't want a corrupt judge as our CJN. 2 Likes |
