I read with some incredulity this article by Fashola

I won't be quick to criticise Fashola. We need to realise that he is a lawyer so an in depth understanding of economics may be lacking. It's over simplistic saying good infrastructure drives growth.

Benin and Togo have better infrastructure than Nigeria but their economies are not exactly blazing away.

But to really turn his augment on its head, there are several countries with lousy infrastructure that have grown fast.

India was able to achieve growth rates of 8% and more for almost 2 decades despite poor infrastructure.

Neighbouring Bangladesh was able to achieve growth rates of 6% or more.

Taiwan was even able to become a rich nation despite poor investment in infrastructure.

Nigeria can achieve a growth rate of 7% and more for the next ten years even with the poor rate of infrastructure investment.

What is more important than infrastructure spending are good economic policies that create a pro business climate.

The private sector is very resilient and can adapt to the poor state of infrastructure by simply improvising.

If there's no light, use a gen for instance.

Jonathan must be credited for being humble enough to allow his economic technocrats do their job with little hindrance. Buhari should learn from this

Minister of darkness sef still dey talk about infrastructure, bridges etc A man that spent how many hundreds of millions of public money on a website named after him and 278 million on a borehole.

Who the heck is tunde fashola to be minister of infrastructure?

Could he even provide potable water for Lagos in 8 years even with all the tax he raked in. To me his biggest achievements in 8 years in Lagos was revenue mobilisation not infrastructure grin

@topic,
Only the genuinely ignorant ones and those blinded by hatred, bigotry and ethnicity will dispute the fact that high crude price was the only reason GEJ was able to record any growth.

The moment oil price crashed to $75 pb, they started borrowing money to pay workers salaries.
At least there were growths. What do we have now bro?

How much was oil price when Obasanjo took over?

Some people won't like what he said because he has criticise their messiahs......

When a nations fails to invest in infrastructure.... its definitely living on a time bomb which would explode anytime, and now it was when the major source of forex is down.
I ask again, how much was oil price during Obasanjo's regime? Yet the economy was growing then?

Bad belle Fashiola.
What happened during Yardua and OBJ?
The problem with APC people is that they will go to any length to twist the truth and deny honor to whom it's due, and then give it to him who it's not due, like Buhari!

Excuses excuses, all I keep hearing from these people are excuses.

Atleast he sha agrees that there was physical growth, not paper statistics. They keep contradicting one another. One of them will say PDP misruled fr 16 years and the other will say there was growth.

The only solution to mankinds situation is God's Kingdom.

Man keeps failing promises.

They say they will solve problems and find out it is not as easy as said.

We remain in messed state.
The big players are suffering it.

The true hope remains God's Kingdom.

At least there was growth, so the new FG is citing low oil sales to the reason we are having negative growth right? yet he is investing in oil exploration in teh North East and you seem blind to that right?

It's so sad that a lot of Nigerians are dumb, nothing good came out of GEJ's administration thanks to the price of oil it's a pity we we all being ripped off for crumps and you keep praising him. Take a look at this for 8year you sold oil for $100 per barrel producing 3m barrels daily and didn't have no savings instead you left public debt. Not oil is less than $45 if you are not stupid you know expect a change. The said thing is if those bunch of thiefs without any good policy for 8years didn't eat with all their hands we wouldn't feel much.

This is it someone take billions from you and bribes you with thousands but because you are not smart and ignorant you are okay with it but really were being robbed...

If not even as a secondary sch certificate you should able to get a comfortable job by now for real but now unemployment rate is nothing to write home about because everyone is corrupt, they stole our future from us...
Annoying thing is that no one has been successfully prosecuted thats the only fault I find in buhari, If you see the policies he you will know he loves you weather you want him or not but your too blind to see. Even an honest and crazy person is better than a thief and no one can do much when everyone around you is antagonizing you. When was the last time you were able to apply for civil services jobs online until now get smart
I won't be surprised if you're a primary school drop out.

If you can't compose and pass your message well how about writing it in your dialect and let someone else interpret

Failed minister you say, under Tinubu , Fashola and now Ambode Lagos state has grown through IGR to become the 5th largest economy in Africa. Let sink in !

Those guys were able to implement 80% of the annual budget and even at that repaired FG infrastructure for which they are yet to be payed.

Fashola is a better leader and administrator than GEJ can ever claim to be
