Does God Want you to be rich?

Based on God's word as revealed in the Bible, wants His people to be have both "shalom" (peace; completeness; welfare; health) and wealth or riches (Isaiah 26:3; Proverbs 10:22).

God however never intended that we should seek wealth or riches. In fact, it is written:

"Don't wear yourself out to get rich; stop giving your attention to it." Proverbs 23:4(Holman)

Also, 1 Timothy 6:5-10 (NIV) reads:
"...people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.
6But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. 8But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. 9Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
"

Nothing is wrong with money. That passage didn't say "for money is the root of all kinds of evil", it said "for the love of money is the root..."

The eight verse stress that God is not against comfort. You are expected to work and earn something for your good and that of others but not to seek to be rich (that is to have more than you need).

QUESTION: If God wants me to be rich, how then will I be rich without it being part of my goal?

Consider these scriptures:

- Proverbs 10:22(NIV): "The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, without painful toil for it."

- 2 Corinthians 8:9(NIV): "For you know THE GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that YOU through his poverty MIGHT BECOME RICH."
(Capitalization is mine)
Note that "might" is past tense. It is already done for those who come to God through Christ Jesus because by the death of Jesus for us, the blessing of Abraham became transferable to us who are non-Jews too. (Galatians 3:9,13-14)

Don't let Satan deceive you to start looking for what is already yours. It leads to frustration and sorrows and you were not even designed that way.

Just ask God for what you need and do whatever He tells you to do. He will lead you into your wealth even by doing things that seems totally contrary to making money. He is Lord.
The Lord still remains our Shepherd and on Him we should rely. His voice we should follow and He it is Who makes us rich.

James 1:25 tells us that those who practice the word of God they hear are the ones who will be blessed in their doing.
One thing He told us is to do is to love one another as Christ loved us, not with words only but with action. That's why it is written,
"Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." (2 Corinthians 9:7-8,NIV):

Love God and honour your parents with what you have and stay where God put you- don't let money dictate what you do and where you work. You cannot serve God and money. When you focus on doing what God says to do, especially in the area of serving Him, you will soon find out that you don't need to look for money like the rest of the world. God will take care of you no matter how much you have in your bank account.

Don't live to make money. Work where you ought to be, not where you think there is money. Grace will always meet you where God put you.

NOTE:THIS IS MEANT FOR THOSE WHO BELONG TO THE KINGDOM OF GOD WHERE JESUS IS LORD AND THE BIBLE IS FINAL AUTHORITATIVE REFERENCE- NOT THE PASTOR/BISHOP/ REVEREND etc
