THE BEACH TOOK HER

Craig stood by the shores of the beach, eyes transfixed into the horizon, dusk was approaching and the birds where chipping, forming twitters and symphonies while retreating in colonies, the ocean tides increased it's turbulence as the waters made roaring sounds, the horizon seemed to be stitched with silver line, the clouds where now highly densed as they moved in a fugacious manner east wards paving way for twilight, the waters pulsating and dancing to the music of the windy ambiance whilst heralding the renowned sea breeze which sent goose pimples all over Craig's mild skin, he shivered and interlocked his arms in a futile bid to annul the effect the breeze had on him. Occasionally the waters severed bonds with the pulsing sea and snuggled up to him drenching the golden sand beneath his feet.

"Craig" a low pitched voice called out to him, drowned in his thoughts he didn't hear her.

"Craig?" She called out again this time a little bit louder much to his consciousness. He swiftly turned and beheld her, with a panicking voice he spoke

"Yolanda, any good news?" Craig asked with eyes widely opened while holding Yolanda his younger sister on her shoulders.

"Craig, we.....we.....lost her" she stuttered while breaking down in tears. Craig quickly pulled her into his arms in a warm hug.

"Oh God!!! This can't be happening, this can't be true, why me? Lord why me? I brought her to her death? Someone had better wake me up from this sleep" he sobbed bitterly, by now a cloud of tears feeling uncomfortable in eyes gradually rolled down his cheeks dropping on Yolanda's hair, Craig loosened himself from the cuddle and sat on the beach sand bemoaning his loss, it was her birthday, Alicia his girlfriend was gone, gone on the day she was born, she had always loved waters, and had opted for a beach birthday party, Craig had obliged and brought her together with Yolanda who she was very fond of and some few friends to the beach. Everything was going on smoothly until they retired to a small hut to obey the rumblings of their stomach. Alicia had to excuse herself to go stare at the waters some more before they left, meal was the last on the list, and of course Yolanda followed suit, Craig subtly brought out a ring from his pocket, what day could be more better than her birthday to propose to her, he smiled but the smile was short lived when Yolanda screamed, he quickly rushed out, only to find his bride to be drowning on her birthday, he couldn't swim, but he was determined to get her out or die trying, he was restrained by friends who thought loosing two people a day would be traumatic, experts in swimming had brought her out, all efforts made to resuscitate her proofed abortive, Craig had to go to ocean to plead with it to bring back the love of his life, but no she was gone, gone forever, a sad reality Craig is finding impossible to wrap his head around. "The beach took her" he wrote on the sands...
