Despite the reliance of the All Progressives Congress(APC) on federal might to win the Saturday Governorship poll in Ondo State, the Olusola Oke Campaign organization has reaffirmed its confidence in the will of the people to thwart the evil intention.
The Campaign organization asserted that the outcome of the governorship election will convey an unequivocal messages that the democratic and sovereign powers belong to the people and that the powers of the people are mightier than those in power.
In a statement in Akure by its Director general, Mr Bola Ilori, on Sunday, the campaign outfit of the AD candidate, Chief Olusola, said the ego of the APC will be deflated by the people of Ondo State in the election, saying relying on federal might is like living in a fool’s paradise with the level of democratic awareness and sophistication of Ondo electorate.
Ilori reminded that the calamity that befell the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in the last general elections is still fresh in the country’s political history, where it relies solely on federal might, rather than the people’s powers, pointing out that this will be the lots of APC in this election.
Ilori added that the AD has become a darling party that is ringing bell in the hearts of the Ondo residents.
“APC is gradually toeing a ruinous path by its boast that it will use the federal might to intimidate and overrun the collective will of Ondo people. The same story we heard from the PDP during the countdown to the 2015 general elections. Today, the PDP that controlled over 25 states at a time now has 12 states under its control, with Ondo State gradually slipping off its hands.
“APC candidate, Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, is a product of deceit, manipulations and electoral malfeasance and he has been wholesomely rejected by the people. No branding or advertorial can sell a bad product.
“The evil plot that manifested during the APC primary in Ondo State had shown lucidly that both the makers and the product are laced with indelible taint and the APC Candidate will be consigned to electoral trash -bin on Saturday by Ondo electorate.
“In case they don’t know, the Southwest people, from time immemorial had the history of flexing muscles with the federal might and they had always won. The Action Group triumphed over the forces of National Congress Party(NCP) during the first Republic. The Unity Party of Nigeria(UPN) did same to National Party of Nigeria(NPN) in 1979. The AD trounced the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 1999 and Action Congress of Nigeria(ACN) overran the PDP before the consummation of APC, which is now becoming a contraption.
“In terms of political trajectory and configuration, federal might has no place in southwest politics and this election will never be an exemption. You can see that the APC criminals who were arrested printing election materials in Rivers state have had their case silenced, I wager they've been released through federal might including all those arrested during the general elections rigging in favor of the APC.
