SBG04: It is not the government's job to build ranches for them. Govt does not sponsor private business however govt can create enabling environment like giving them interest free loans to purchase land and build ranches, but keeping mute about it like this Govt is ding is wrong and that is what has led pple to believe it is ethnic. Compare the reaction of this government to Niger delta avengers who were not killing pple but vandalising infrastructure, this govt came all out on them, deployed military forces to hunt them etc (i'm not saying this is a wrong approach), why can't we see the same type of aggression in addressing these herdsmen case who are not only destroying pple's livelihood but also killing pple as well. Are oil pipelines more important than the lives of Nigerians 1 Like |

uzolexis:Why isn't it the governments Job to build ranches for them? What part of the constitution makes building ranches the exclusive preserve of the Private sector? Please I don't like having arguments with uninformed and ignorant people. Its very irritating. Get your facts right before you come and post anything online. The danger is that you can spread and infect others with your ignorance. This Herdsmen conflict is a matter of life and death and national security. Why would the government wait for Private sector participants to build ranches when it can intervene and build the ranches itself? I also hate this issue of comparing conflicts. Its very tribalistic. It is a lie that the Federal government has been silent on the herdsmen conflict. There is a special operation in the North west and North Central by the Nigerian Army to tackle this menace. But that is as much as the Federal government can do. This conflict is purely economic and social. As long as we have herders moving down south and encroaching on farmlands, there is always going to be conflict. You can't monitor the movement of every single cow. Most times the real cause of conflict is when the cattle encroach on farms and graze on crops. The local farmers mobilise themselves and kill the cows. The herders retaliate and attack the farmers. Former President Obasanjo's argument that it is irresponsible of State governments to accuse the Federal government of not doing anything about the herdsmen problem, holds very true. If the State governments are refusing to release land for the establishment of grazing reserves, which is the only solution to this conflict, preferring instead to buy into the hate campaign, tribalism and ignorance of the likes of Ayo Fayose, they should leave the FG out of it. |

SBG04: you are the uninformed person here my friend, I didn't say private sector should build ranches(although that is not a bad idea) but like I said earlier it is not the govt's job to build ranches for them, the govt can build ranches and rent it out but not give it to them for free. Is it not a private business does the profit from their cattle rearing go to the govt?? why on earth should it be the govt's responsibility to fund someone's private business and pray tell why should state governor's just give out their land to cattle herders, other pple that buy land are they fools why can't this pple buy land like others instead of encroaching on other pple's land The method of cattle rearing the fulani practice is outdated because it results in conflict, in most developed countries, farmers who rear cattle buy land and establish ranches, the cattle grazes on their own farm and not moving from place to place encroaching other pple's land...pls educate yourself, thank you. Also you can choose to keep lying to yourself that the Nigerian government tackled this "fulani herdsmen menace" with the same level of aggression with which they tackled the Niger Delta avengers but Nigerians are not stupid and they know the truth. 1 Like |

Buhari ,are you not ashamed as chief in command of nigeria forces ,you saw or convinced that foreigners have illegally entered nigeria and you are dumb and doesn't know what to do ? why is your foot soldiers ,police and army harassing, arresting and killing people who challenged the herdsmen ,if they are foreign terrorists ? |

uzolexis:You still are not making sense and still choosing to be ignorant. So while poor Fulani herdsmen and the innocent farmers are killing themselves, we should wait for the Private sector to build ranches. Or wait for poor innocent herdsmen to buy land from Tribalistic state governors like Fayose that won't sell their land? The FG has preferred so many solutions to a problem that is purely the responsibility of the State governors. Yet these people are still heaping blame on the FG. Again comparing the conflict in the ND to that of the herdsmen is tribalistic. What is your basis for comparison? Criminals in the ND blowing pipelines, kidnapping people for Ransome, engaging in oil bunkering under the pretext of freedom fighting, should be compared to herders avenging the killing of their cattle by local farmers or local farmers avenging the destruction of their crops by herders? You honestly expect the FG to send the military to wipe off herders and their cows or local farmers? The only thing that can be done is to ensure that when the cows do encroach on farmlands and eat crops, there will be proper conflict resolution measures at the local level to prevent conflict. Cattle will always stray into farmlands (In the absence of ranches). The job of the State and local governments is to create conflict resolution measures at the local government level if they don't want to release land for grazing. Instead what they're doing is making this an ethnic and FG problem when it is entirely their responsibility! Obasanjo was spot on! People like you are the problem of this country. Always looking at national issues with tribal, ethnic and self seeking eyes. There'll be a day when we'll have a revolution to rid ourselves of people like you. You have never meant this country well. |
