The second governorship election in Ondo state was held on August 13, 1983. It was marred by a state-wide electoral violence which resulted in the killing of scores of residents and hundreds of houses burnt. It was keenly contested by the incumbent governor at the time, Late Adekunle Ajasin and Late Akin Omoboriowo, his deputy who later decamped to National Party of Nigeria, NPN. Akin Omoboriowo was declared winner. Unfortunately, the subsequent broadcast by the incumbent resulted into widespread violence which started on 18th August, 1983. However, after the situation became calm, Late Ajasin took the case to court and was declared winner in the lower court and subsequently in the Court of Appeal. Thus, Akin Omoboriowo was not sworn in as governor.

Thanks OP.

The 83 election and riot was a flashback to Opetation weti e. After his cross ovet Omoboriowo was nicknamed Owoboriomo. Lol.

He was alleged to have crossed over because of money, thus the ridicule that his Omoluabi was compromised by money.

Ondo politics has always been hot and interesting. That is the only state in Yorubaland that will vote against the wave. If all the Western States vote UPN, Ondo will vote their opposition. If they all vote ACN, Ondo will go for PDP or some other party. Now that majority voted APC in West, let's see how Ondo is going to vote on Saturday.
