Is Jesus Just A Prophet? by pally1982: 11:41am On Nov 27, 2016
Over many occasions, I have over-heard many people ascribing only
prophetic status to Jesus. They describe Jesus as one of the prophets
like Mohammed, Moses and other great prophets that have visited
this world. But such assertion is wrong,Jesus is not just a prophet.
Jesus nature is prophetic, priestly and kingly.

I was brought up from a catholic background where I was taught that
Jesus is "God made man for our sake", all my life I have taken time
to meditate on the teaching and I have every perfect understanding that
the teaching is truth and nothing but the truth. This write up is not meant to
demonize any belief, but to explain my own school of taught where I was brought up
It is meant to shed light on a topic many have argued ignorantly.
Let me also acknowledge that I am not a scholar but explains based on my own
understanding. I am sure that a priest will be in a better position to shed a better
light on the mentioned topic.

In the book of John it is written
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God
(John1:1)
This verse summarizes the whole being of Jesus. God the father has always used the word "let us"
indicating that he was never alone in creation. We also have a story of the Lucifer being chased
down from heaven.Anyway, let me keep there and go on with my main topic.

Jesus himself having witnessed the controversies behind his name
decided to ask his apostles who the people think that he is,
They gave him several descriptions, some saying he is one of the great
prophets, some Elijah etc. Then he asked them who they themselves think
he is. This was when Peter told him that he is the son of the living God.
Jesus told Peter that the proclamation did not come from him but from
the holy spirit. Jesus did not correct him and say, no I am a prophet. Again, Jesus also told
his disciples that whoever sees God sees him. He and the father are one.

First let me state facts that shows that Jesus is different from mere a prophet
and then conclude my argument at the end of the write up.

1) All prophets were born through the intercourse between a man and a woman but
Jesus was born with the power of the holy spirit. Both Islam
and Christianity acknowledge this superficial conception which
defies any known biological explanation. If God wanted to send
Jesus in the nature of every prophets, it would have been simple
to allow Joseph and Mary intercourse and bring to the world a prophet.
God never wanted this to happen. He rather wanted a a supernatural
being who will be born in an extraordinary manne, Making Jesus
completely different from any human being. Surely this confirms
that Jesus is not just a prophet

2) Jesus was never involved in any violenece, all other
prophets did. In the hours before Jesus was seized. Peter struck
the ear of a soldier, and Jesus healed him. Jesus rebuked Peter
and told him that he has the power to ask his father to send a battalion
of angels for war but he will not do it. Every prophets, Mohammed, Moses
Elijah were involved in one nature of brutal violence or the other
The bible described Jesus as the prince of peace. It is not by
provdenece that christians are the most peacefull people on earth. We remember bible docummentations
on how Moses led the people of Israel in wars to reach the promise land. We remember Elijah's
encounter with the prophets of Baal. What about Mohammed, we all know his stories with the
people of Medina. Jesus was different, he explains and represented the true nature of God while on earth.
The bible described Jesus as the prince of peace. It is not by
Providence that Christians are the most peaceful religious people on earth.

3)Jesus had the power to forgive sins and even empowered his disciples to do the same.
Throughout his reign on earth, Jesus in many occasions forgave sins.
This action put him in a lot of controversial situations
with Israelite who imagined any human being forgiving sins.
This actions were allowed by God, something no any other prophet
would have done and gotten away with. We all remember how Moses
died without seeing the promise land. Jesus was different. His authority was so surpassing.
Not just forgiving sins but empowering his apostles to do the same after resurrection.
Jesus ability to forgive sins makes him different from any other prophet.

4) Jesus will judge the world.
Have we paused to ask why God chose Jesus out of all the prophets
to Judge the whole world? Is Jesus really just a prophet
to have being assigned such a role? If Moses were to judge the world, only Israelis will go heaven. So also
with other prophets A perfect indication that God the father have exactly the same thinking, the same understanding
and the same nature. Did God really wondered whether Jesus is going render some partial justice?
He trusts Jesus, a being of same nature and chose him to judge the whole world.Surely when you see Jesus, you have seen
the father.

These attributes and many more shows that Jesus is not just a prophet. Some who do not want to call him God the son, may
find it very uncomfortable to know where to place him. Calling him just a prophet is an understatement. calling him just
a priest is understatement. Calling him God to some people is overrating.

Now, which point am I making? The contentious issue is if Jesus is
God.To give answer to this we come to the mystery of the blessed trinity. God the father,
God the son and God the holy spirit. One indivisible God with the
same thinking, same nature and one now and forever. God the
father is the head of this blessed trinity. Surely God
during the creation of the world used the word "Let Us". This show he did
not create the world alone. Jesus himself acknowledging the blessed
trinity said that a sin against the father and the son can be forgiven
but the sin against the holy spirit will never be forgiven. Does it mean that the holy spirit is the real God? No.
It simply explains how important the trinity is. Does the
statement indicate that the holy spirit is greater than the father
and the son? No. Jesus was trying to signify the importance of the
holy spirit. Jesus also told us the he and the father are one.
When you see him, you have seen the father because he is in the
father and the father is in him. The baptismal formula shows 3:

"baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost" (Matthew 28:19).
Jesus real name is Emmanuel which translates to "God among us".
I have being baffled most times when some people think
that God gets jealous when we worship Jesus. What exactly do you take God for? God is all knowing and if he never
wanted Jesus to be worshiped, He wouldn't have sent him. He wouldn't have spoken from heaven asking the world to listen to him.
If God did not want us to worship Jesus, would he have
sent him knowing the future? Would he have ascribed such authority to Him? How many of you gets jeleous when
someone hails your son? Or threaten fire and brimstone when someone does business with your beloved son.
The bond between God the father and God the son is far trillions stronger than the bond between you and your son.
Jesus nature is Prophetic, priestly and kingly. In my next article, I will explain
what it means to say that Jesus nature is kingly, priestly and prophetic
in details. He is God the son made man because of me and you.

Jesus( real name Yeshua) was only a guy who was intunned to his true self and was different to the people around him. If you think different to others, they easily see you as an outcast and will most likely eradicated you especially when you question customary beliefs. This happens in every generation. It's got nothing to do with being prophet or god. Just a normal guy who happened to be much more enlightened than his peers
Re: Is Jesus Just A Prophet? by pally1982: 11:58am On Nov 27, 2016
You call Jesus an ordinary enlightened guy because you lack a simple understanding. Surely there are thousands of enlightened men who have passed through this world. How come Jesus is worshiped and followed by close to 3 billion people. What happens to other enlightened guys. WISDOM IS NOT CHEAP INDEED.
