You mean we should keep begging you to stop bombing and destroying your own land like we've been begging you with so many peace initiatives, more money, NDDC, amnesty and billions upon Nbillions of amnesty PAYMENTS?

No, they can not keep holding us to ransom or keep blackmailing us forever, they can blow up the whole of ND and drink whatever oil they have left, who cares?

What have they done with all their derivations, allocations, IGR, amnesty payments and so on?

Delta state is the most indebted country in Nigeria with N700 billion debt, but can you point to one thing they did with that money?

Oil is an international commodity and we can get it from anywhere and even oil is available in other peaceful and non violent parts of Nigeria or even from outside Nigeria.

Don't you know that orubebe, asari and co will always encourage their boys to continue blowing up pipelines, so that tomorrow FG will give them contrct to clean the environment naa. That is what is in their ogogoro sense. Stupid people i ever seen.

All this stoooryyy u keep repeating. The military raped all regions & doled out the oil wells to their friends. The niger delta has a fund meant for infrastructure development. Every chairman dt headed dt organization became a billionaire when they left. Is it an outsider dt will come and head dt organization? The mineral resources in other regions not being exploited, do u really believe the thieving class won't have exploited it for more money if they knew how? Do u think anyone is benefitting anything by leaving d bitumen, tin, coal etc in d ground. We all know dt its due to a lack of vision, hardwork & d simplemindedness of our corrupt leaders. Ajaokuta steel is an example. It is not a conspiracy. The same way the multinationals spilled oil wtout any repercussions by d FG is d same way multinationals tested drugs on infants in d north without any repercussions. Its a result of useless leadership.

Now what did the 1st president from the south south do about all these when in power? He had a mandate. The whole north central & the whole south voted for him. Why are u only now raising the issue?
if you have been to the Niger Delta, you will understand the gravity of neglect the people are in.people living on black oil spilled water with mosquitoes and malaria to deal with, no schools ,farmers, jobs ,companies to work,no bridges and high youth unemployment. yet they are sitting on money meant for the elite up north and their corrupt leaders and former militants like Asari, emami, tompolo etc.my concern is for the poor of that area and the generations unborn. The FG must bypass their corrupt leaders and intervain directly to transform that area.

So u re saying its ok for Nigeria to import beef since the fulani herdsmen we know in the south hv been a torn in the flesh?
After all we can get cows from anywhere?
Go and do your homework, Beef has being imported into the country since time in memorial not all the cows you see in the market are from Nigeria Many come from Chard and Niger republic.
Back to the topic of discussion, the Militants focus on destroying pipelines supplying most of the gas power plants sending millions into darkness for no just reason. And if some states are thinking of going into renewable energy it is a welcome development were they do not have to remain in darkness at ransome simply because some one is not happy some were.

Okay, I know that too. .

But we are yet to hear or read anything like having a regional development project like what the Northern Governors are doing,
The only thing we know is that they have been holding meetings and telling us what we already know about the available resources that abound in the SW and can be tapped, as well as tapping from the giant strides of development being experienced in Lagos state.

at least they are meeting, but actually they made some meaningful statements about some things they had done and planned to do but you and i know that saying and doing is the problem of Nigeria but at least they are meeting which is my point. You can't have co-ordinated regional development if you aren't even meeting and you can't have alliances with other regions if you are not together at home.

Quietly consolidating our region should this country ever disintegrate: with our dams, Kainji, Shiroro etc and now solar along with piping of crude from Niger Republic (before northern sources come on board) and keying to the Kaduna refinery; the north would have achieved the required balance mix to attain its energy security - soon no bigot from the south will have cause to call us parasites or hold us to ransom.

If you like; but that may not necessarily hold true since according to southern propaganda most of the oil blocs are owned by northerners; so northerners wouldn't have been feasting off the south but tapping from what belongs to them cool

Nigerians can't keep relying on the Federal Government for solutions. FG have failed us before and will continue to fail us. The Obasanjo/Buhari generation in power have totally destroyed Nigeria in terms of job creations and economic productivity. Anyone age 18-45 should start looking way to challenge these current old men in power. we are numerous and can force changes if we want to . The future is in our hands.

stop deceiving yourself!

what do you need extra state for....so you can have one more governor, one more house of assembly one more set of commisioners and all the associated expenses and one more set of unpaid state workers?

what have we acheived with 36 states that we didn't acheive when we had just 12 except more poverty in the land? Which factories located to the new states? which jobs came to the new states except civil servants that can't be paid? You create more states and all your citizens run to Lagos.....free yourself from backward thinking.
God bless you abundantly.
who state creation epp?! I wld rather we go back to regional government, let each region control their resources and let's see an healthy competition amongst the regions.

Northern Governors, General Electric sign MOU for 5 power plants

The Northern States Governors' Forum and the General Electric ‎International, on Monday signed a memoranda of understanding for the construction of five solar plants that aim at generating 500 megawatts of electricity in some parts of Northern Nigeria.

Borno State Governor and Chairman of the Northern States Governors ' Forum, Kashim Shettima signed the agreement on behalf of the ‎Governors while General Electric's Senior Executive, Western Europe and Africa, Mr Armand Pineda and the President/Chief Executive Officer, ‎General Electric, Nigeria, Dr Lazarus Angbazo signed on behalf of their company in a brief ceremony which held at Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja.

Based on the MOU, the General Electric which has 120 years experience in power generation, is to build five solar power plants to be located in Borno, Kebbi, Nassarawa, Niger and Taraba States which each of the plants expected to generate 100 megawatts of electricity totaling 500 megawatts across the 5 States. The electricity is meant to stimulate economic activities and social services in the affected States through boosting agricultural food processing, small scale businesses in addition to supplying electricity to schools and hospitals.

The project which is a pilot phase, is being coordinated by the Northern Nigeria Global Economic Re-integrationProgramme, newly created by the Northern Governors to serve as vehicle for the economic recovery of northern States through international relations on infrastructure, manufacturing, stimulate agricultural value chain and trade and make the region a global payer agricultural export in line with the vision of late Premier of the Region.

The Governors Forum led by Governor Kashim Shettima, engaged the services of Malam Tanimu Yakubu Kurfi as Cheif Executive Officer of the Programme. Kurfi was Chief Economic Adviser to late President Umaru Musa Yar'adua and he has wide contact with leading development companies and financial institutions across the world.

"The 19 Governors of the north jointly created this approach. We want to go beyond lamentation to provide solutions and we all know that power is key to industrial development. With power, we can create jobs, stimulate our economies and make life better for our people. The General Electric has over 120 years experience in energy solutions and they have been operating in Nigeria for over 50 years, we cannot have a better partner than GE. We shall do our part as Governors, this I will assure you. We are deeply committed to this agreement" Governor Kashim Shettima said at the MOU signing ceremony.

The Northern Governors Chairman enumerated challenges of poverty, unemployment, poor access to education, poor healthcare amongst other underdevelopment indications threatening the north while concluding that the power can provide a vehicle for the north to reposition itself for a better future.

The CEO, Northern Nigeria Global Economic Re-Integration Programme, Tanimu Yakubu Kurfi said he took up the challenge ‎put forward by the Northern Governors as a result of strong passion and commitment to aggressive development of the north as so far shown by the Northern Governors since Governor Shettima became the forum's chairman in 2015.

Reaffirming their commitment to the MOU, General Electric's Senior Executive, Western Europe and Africa, Mr Armand Pineda and the President/Chief Executive Officer, ‎General Electric, Nigeria, Dr Lazarus Angbazo both pledged that they would work round the clock to realize the project for the benefits of citizens of the five States.

I give this a 5!

Here is why..... Northern Nigeria Economic Reintegration Programme. In simple terms, a regional government!

The North has crafted a new way to shunt the Federal Government programmes and self-preserve its regional interests. We have a Ministry designated with responsibility of regulating power distribution and consumption in the country. So with this contract, who is going to regulate the distribution and consumption of the GE power grid? We will end up with two standards, the Federal standard and the Northern standard.

I call this a parallel government....while others are waiting for permission to float regional administrations, North is already out of the stable and calling the bluffs.

This is definitely a 5 on a scale of 1 to 5 for excellent execution.

There's doesn't seem to be laws against setting up your own grid. I doubt solar energy with cover all of energy needs due to fact solar power 500 MW at peak. Then you have account for idustry growth that takes up more energy.

Southern governors should have done this decades ago but laziness and folishness didn't let them see obvious solution of multigrid format. SS and SE could live off of gas supply and coal. The NC NE could with hydro and solar and gas. SW abdv NWcould with sone energy energy mix that could potentially work.
