Bob Cole said: "You shouldn't kill the baby for the crime of the father." God disagrees with you, Ray: "So Moses chiseled out two stone tablets like the first ones and went up Mount Sinai early in the morning, as the Lord had commanded him; and he carried the two stone tablets in his hands. Then the Lord came down in the cloud and stood there with him and proclaimed his name, the Lord. And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, 'The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation'." (Exodus 34:4-7 NIV)

Ray Answers: Where does it say to kill the child for the crime of the father? It says he doesn't leave the guilty unpunished. Only those who are guilty get punished by God. Read it again: "Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation." The use of "children" is speaking of the offspring (adults) who also have children (the nation of Israel is often called "The children of Israel" ). Also "the children and their children" is obviously referring to those who bear children. Little children don't have children.

"How could there be light before the sun?"

Before God created the sun to give light to the earth, He provided a light source for the first three days. Where would the original light have come from? The Bible tells us that God is light (1 John 1:5; Rev. 22:5), and that in the new heavens and earth there will be no need for the sun or moon, "for the glory of God illuminated it" (Rev. 21:23). Some pagan religions worship the sun, and even evolutionary theory credits the sun for the creation of life. Knowing that man is prone to worship anything but the Creator, perhaps God did it this way specifically to show that He, not the sun, is responsible for the origin of life (see Deut. 4:19; Ezek. 8:16). Someone Said: "God wants to keep people from having knowledge!"

Ray Answers: Some skeptics see the word "knowledge" in Gen. 3:5 (in ref. to the T=tree of the knowledge of good and evil) and conclude that God wants to prohibit man from having knowledge. They claim God likes people to be ignorant and unthinking, but they fail to consider what it is a knowledge of. But their sin brought evil into the world, and once mankind knew both good and evil, he had to choose between the two.

Before sin was in the world, Adam and Eve knew, and experienced, only good; in fact, God's entire creation was "very good." These same skeptics often complain about the evil they see in the world and blame it on God—yet it was because of Adam and Eve's desire to know good and evil that we now know and experience evil.

Someone Said: "How large was Noah's ark?"

Ray Answers: We know the Ark must have been at least 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet high. Using a longer cubit, it would have been over 500 feet in length. In the Western world, wooden sailing ships never got much longer than about 330 feet, yet much earlier the ancient Greeks were building vessels at least this size. China built huge wooden ships in the 1400s that may have been as large as the Ark. The biblical Ark is one of the largest wooden ships of all time, a mid-sized cargo ship even by today's standards.

The Ark had three decks (see Gen. 6:16), so this gives you an idea of its overall size. With a capacity of 1.5 million cubic feet, it would have had sufficient room for all the people, animals (kinds), and supplies.

Someone Said: "Where did Cain get his wife?"

Ray Answers: With only Adam and Eve as the only parents of all humanity, Cain and Abel, then, must have married their sisters. All of the first-generation siblings married each other in order to populate the earth. At that time there was no law against incest. Because the genetic line was so pure in the beginning, there was no problem with inbreeding. But as the population grew large enough, and as the risk of genetic problems increased due to sin's curse, God outlawed marriage between immediate family members (see Lev. 18:6–18).

BTW. If you have a wife, you married a distant sister.

Someone Said: "He who sees the eyes of a child beaten and molested while his God watched is a seriously sick person for believing in a God."

Ray Answers: It is thoughtless to jump to the conclusion that nothing created everything, simply because God doesn't immediately punish evil. If He intervened and had Judgment Day today, where would you stand under the light of moral perfection? God is holding back from punishing child molesters, rapists, adulterers, fornicators, homosexuals, those who lust, hate, lie, steal and covet, because He is rich in mercy and willing to forgive all who repent and trust in Jesus.

Someone Said: "I am full of life and happiness. My family brings me joy, among other things. I love living in the here and now, and being accountable to my fellow humans."

Ray Answers: Everything you love is temporal. It will one day be ripped from your hands by death. That could be today--and that's not some sort of scare tactic; it is reality.

An atheist wrote: "We'll leave you alone as soon as you realize not everyone shares the same beliefs and keep your beliefs in your home and churches where they belong…none of us have the right to impose our beliefs on each other. The human race will be in a much better place when religious people learn this."

Ray Answers: We won't be keeping the gospel to ourselves, our homes, or our churches. We are going to use every medium possible to shout the message of everlasting life from the housetops. We're coming at you to tell you that eternal life is the free gift of God--and that no one needs to end up in Hell--including you. We deeply care about you and where you spend eternity, even if you don't.

Someone Said: "Have you ever heard of someone who grew a limb? No… why does God always cure the easy stuff that the body can do on its own?"

Ray Answers: Have you ever heard of God growing hair on bald heads, making short people tall, replacing knocked out teeth, or making fat people skinny? I'm sure you haven't. How could you then leap over logic and reason, and say that He doesn't exist because you haven't seen Him do such things?

"So, why don't you practice what you preach here? Instead of making a stupid reply to a question you obviously can't answer? Which is something you have done before here, the 'steak' comment in response to somebody asking what the animals ate after landing, when all the plant life was dead from the flood." Gerwyn Petty

I was serious with the "steak" reply (my apologies; it's easy to forget that some of you don't read, believe, or know the Bible). The inference made by the atheist questioner--that there would have been nothing to eat after the flood, isn't true. God told Noah "Take with you seven pairs of every kind of clean animal" (Genesis 7:2). Clean animals were those that could be eaten. Noah had a small herd of cattle on board, so he had a good meat supply (steak). Also, the Bible says that vegetation had started to grow by the time he exited the ark, so he could have had meat and fresh vegetables if he was out of food—which I doubt. His on-board chickens, ducks and other birds would have supplied him with eggs, and his cows gave him a good source of milk, butter, and cheese.

Of course, none of these thoughts will help because you will have a million and one other objections when it comes to the flood. To try and convince anyone that Noah built an Ark is to put the cart before the horse. You should first repent, trust alone in Jesus for your salvation. If you do that you have God's promise that He will make Himself known to you (see John 14:21). That will solve your whole DUH (“Don't Understand How”) problem, because with God, nothing is impossible.

Paul Boyer said: "Ray....if something can't come from nothing...where did God come from?"

Samatha Swartz: "The ten commandments that christians cherish starts out: Exodus 20 The Ten Commandments: 1 And God spoke all these words: 2 "I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. Did God bring you out of the land of Egypt, out of slavery? NO!?!?!? Then I guess these laws are not for you, are they?"

Ray Answers: You are sadly mistaken. The Bible is filled with "typologies"—leprosy is a "type" of sin, Joseph is a type of Christ, the wilderness of the Hebrew desert is a type of the wilderness of this barren world, etc. Without this understanding, the entire Bible will seem to be a jumbled mess of confusion.

Egypt is a type of this sin-filled world, where sinners are slaves to their sins. God brought the Christian out of this world and freed us from slavery to sin and death.

Your conclusion is, therefore, wrong also. The moral Law isn't just for the Jews. It was given to the whole world so that we would have knowledge of what sin is (see Romans 3:19-20), and it will be the standard by which God will judge the world.

Christina Elaine: "My mom means more to me than anyone or anything in this world. My best friend comes next, then my fur babies. I don't see a problem with it considering I don't believe in any god."

Kypros Christodoulides said: "I guess you consider it moral for a guy to get stoned to death for gathering sticks on the Sabbath."

Ray Answers: If you're an atheist, it's not immoral in the slightest. Nothing is or can be immoral. It's just a matter of survival of the fittest. Your atheistic worldview believes that killing babies in the womb is okay because society says it is. So is adultery, pornography, blasphemy and homosexuality. There's no right or wrong…there's only survival of the fittest--what mob-rule dictates.

Stuart O'Donnell said: "Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then He is not omnipotent. Is He able, but not willing? Then He is malevolent. Is He both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?"

Ray Answers: Christopher Hitchens left one out. It is the fact that God is morally perfect, and when He punishes those who are evil it will include liars, thieves, adulterers, (He considers lust to be adultery), blasphemers, fornicators, etc. That leaves us all guilty, heading for Hell.

But He lets these and other evils continue because He is rich in mercy, and is patiently waiting for people to repent and trust the Saviour. Evil though we are, He doesn't want us to end up in Hell. How kind is that! There's just one of a thousand reasons to call Him God…something Christopher Hitchens now knows.

Dean Christiansen said: "I'm just thankful there is no Heaven and there is no Hell."

Ray Answers: You can only “believe” that there is no Heaven and no Hell. You cannot "know" because you have no trustworthy authority from which you can derive knowledge. Proof of their existence, however, depends on God's faithfulness to fulfill His promise to manifest Himself to all who call upon Him. This comes through repentance and faith in Jesus. Millions have found Him to be utterly faithful, and we can only tell you what we know to be true.

It is then up to you to have an open mind and seek the truth for yourself. We are talking about where you will spend eternity. This is no game.

A Skeptic Said: "If there was an omnipotent Supreme Being, why would He use such a fallible device of communication--a book written by men, selected by men? Why not just communicate directly?"

Ray Answers: God did communicate directly with human beings. When He gave the Ten Commandments, the nation of Israel was so fearful that they thought they would die. He has chosen to give us His written Word telling us how to find everlasting life, and we are to simply do what it says.

A Skeptic Said: "The only thing you can say about all atheists is that they all lack belief in gods."

Ray Answers: There are many atheists around the world who don't embrace your carefully worded modern definition. They simply say "I believe that there is no God." Your cut-and-paste movement only started a few years ago. But you are still connected to the old "I believe" atheists. If I have a car and say "I lack belief in makers," it means I believe that cars have no makers—and my car, therefore, had no maker. It means that I believe that nothing made it. So, carefully worded though your modern definition may be, it still leaves you believing the scientifically impossible—that nothing made everything.

Ray Answers: As an atheist, God didn't give them AIDS because He doesn't exist. Always keep that in mind when you blame Him for things when you don't believe He exists. If He did commit the crimes you accuse Him of, then He exists and you have to face him on Judgment Day.

Someone Said: "I can be a good person without God."

Ray Answers: Anyone of us can be good without God. All we need is a very low standard of goodness. There are 46 dictionary definitions of "good" from which to choose. The word "good" in God's Book, however, means moral perfection, in thought, word and in deed. That's the high standard of goodness that we be will judged by on Judgment Day (whether you believe in God or not).
