Who says there are no alternative plans/schemes both in the past and presently catering for all of that, from equipping the schools to providing other amenities, including laboratories and libraries and which PRI school even needs lab?. We must learn not to just be condemning every policies. I remember when they were reluctant to implement this same campaign policy, all of you guys were criticizing them, now they've implemented the promise, u r saying something else, even in dis bad economic time. What could someone do to satisfies u pipu? asuustrike2009: 1 Like |

So many dumb comments. So many unintelligent criticism of the FG School-Feeding Programme. Get this: there are millions of Nigerian school kids not getting properly fed. I have personally meet school kids going to school without having breakfast because their parents couldn't afford it. The kids were told the parents will either come to give them 'pocket money' later or asked to 'come back home at break time to eat'. Because you had it so good doesn't mean people out there aren't having it so rough. It is said that every little helps count, so even if it is only breakfast the FG can afford, it matters to most of these kids and their parents. No kid can comprehend nor assimilate properly on empty stomachs. Feed first, then build and equip schools later. I commend the FG, for in spite of the dwindling revenues and recession they are still trying to fulfill the Social Welfare campaign promises. If previous governments had started such programmes then we won't be here discussing it. By the way most international organizations including UNICEF supports School-Feeding Programs and such programmes are replicated every where, not just in Nigeria. 1 Like |

toby2: Talk about Nigerians and being difficult to please............. in one breadth you shout "There is hunger in the land", now government is feeding school children, you ask " is this the most important thing?"........ Pray tell, what better way to put the money into good use? I hope you know that it has been scientifically and medically proven that hungry children cannot assimilate NADA!!!! 1 Like |

Mdik: Kukuma withdraw your children from school or better still close down the schools so that your children can go and work in the supposed "industry". I wonder if it is lost on you that the fundamental civil rights the government is required to bequeath on these children is the right to sound education....... 1 Like |

Mom007: Ignorance 1. There are parents that CANNOT afford to feed their kids in Nigeria......whether you like it or not........ 2. The school feeding programme is targetted at also giving the children a combination of diet to boost their learning capacity, something many illiterate parents are oblivious of 3. Children need to be well fed. If the government is feeding the children of its citizens, what is the bad thing 4. Lastly school feeding program is actually a critical step in improving the quality of education School feeding programs have been defined by the World Bank as “targeted social safety nets that provide both educational and health benefits to the most vulnerable children, thereby increasing enrollment rates, reducing absenteeism, and improving food security at the household level.” [1] Beyond improvements in access to food, school feeding programs also have a positive impact on nutritional status, gender equity, and educational status, each of which contributes to improving overall levels of country and human development. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/School_feeding_in_low-income_countries Education: A daily school meal provides a strong incentive to send children to school and keep them there. It allows children to focus on their studies rather than their stomachs and helps to increase school enrollment and attendance, decrease drop-out rates, and improve cognitive abilities. Programmes can be tailored to provide take-home rations to target girls in areas where there is a gender gap. FEDERAL Government’s plan to introduce a school feeding programme for primary school pupils in the country is a demonstration of its commitment to tackling the rot in Nigeria’s education system from the root. The idea is laudable and should be supported by all who crave a great future for the country. That abject poverty is wreaking havoc in most families is no longer in doubt and families in this predicament, who can hardly afford one meal a day, find it extremely difficult to send their kids to school. This has, for long, been an endemic problem culminating in the rising number of out-of school children. |

freshboi88: So what's is wrong with that in a 21st century primary school. In developed society even nursery got lab where they engage not just in theory but physical experiments. U find these even in South Africa. Before Buhary came, these children eat and given a token to buy lunch at school by their parents. Albeit not to say that feeding is not a bad idea but the question is, is it the most pressing need of these kids? Is that how a class room should look like in the first place. There is nothing like sound learning environment with the modern facilities and updated teachers. I will stop here. But Why do u guys insult others when u urself is as clueless as naija leaders? en? First, schools are closing in less than 2weeks. Also, how sustainable is this one going to be? el-Rufai just cancelled the Kaduna feeding program because they can't afford it. Is meal what we need in our schools? or are they trying to do a cheap version of what they enjoyed in the 60s and 70s |

correctguy0900: My friend quiet, u complain there's hunger n d land, that pple r dying, u say they r not fulfilling their campaign promises, wen dey were campaigning did they tell u they would build scientific lab n primary school...... People have not eaten u r talking about scientific lab, if hunger kills d people who wud use d scientific lab.... Will Soyinka was right when he said he can't stay mad same country filled with imbeciles............ The schools feeding program, govt has made it a priority to use home grown products, what that means is more market for our local products which wud encourage more pple to go into agriculture, because govt will spend alot buying these items to sustain it's program............ Is tht not the enabling environment for agriculture to thrive Tht we have been talking about.... The problem with Nigeria is tht there are too many uneducated graduates, who can't identify an opportunity when they see one. You want to build a scientific lab n a primary school........no one is saying its a bad idea, it's a misplaced priority. 1 Like |
