The Rivers State Ministry of Environment has issued a statement concerning the Black Soot found in the atmosphere and on the floor in and around Port Harcourt and it's environs.

I forgot Wike and APC led federal government are still concerned about the coming elections.
One wouldn't need to be a Rocket Scientist to know that the operations of illegal Oil refinery's and Pipeline Vandalism are the cause of the soot, but the RVSG and FG are still yet to find out where the soot came from. It just further confirms that all our politicians are useless and good for nothing. They are more concerend about their own selfish political gains rather than the welfare and safety of the masses.

The thing is serious. Initial I complain to my wife that our house is no longer neat as it use to be. We stated noticing black dust everywhere in the house. And if I clean my kids noise or mine you will notice black dirt. The thing if terrible. My annoyance is even the power issues, one would have close the entire window bcs of the Kids.

The likely source of this is soot coming from partially burned hydrocarbon; a ruptured crude pipeline burnining out of control would be my number one suspect.

It cant be coming from gas flaring because that has been going on for a long time without anyone complaining about the deposition of soot of this nature in their neighborhood. Besides, the flaring of gas (likely methane) leaves far less deposits of carbon as is seen in this case.

They should go look in the creeks. Sure theyd find their source there.

I saw this thick black dust-like particle on my car's wind shield last week, Initially I thought I had driven pass a road construction area hence the unusual looking dust, until a colleague of mine raised the issue this morning I now realized it is an environmental challenge.

I have really not noticed it since the beginning of this week.

Is worse at Trans Amadi where i reside, we came to the conclusion it's carbon from manufacturing industries around since we're close to alot.

They'd better do something about it cos it isn't healthy.
