Nigerian hospitals are really useless

Yellow eyes can be due to a host of other illnesses not remotely related to the liver...

Too many incompetent doctors in Nigeria. This boy should be administered with high dosage of CIPRO/Ciprofloxacin immediately with a lot of water consumption every two hours. Google Cipro and see what it does.

The Cipro/Ciprofloxacin is an off the counter medicine in the US for kidney infection, acute urinary tract infection, liver problem. I know a Nigerian with same health issue in the US that Cipro was the medicine prescribed to him. My friend began to urinate like every twenty minutes after taking Cipro. The swollen legs, hands and face disappeared within four hours after taking Cipro and a lot of water. He became healthy within 16 hours and normal.

Ask doctor in Nigeria to prescribe Cipro or Ciprofloxin to this boy immediately. The medicine must be taken every 12 hours. Take in the morning before taking any food and take 12 hours later in the night. He needs to keep drinking water even without being thirsty.

I hope they have Cipro or Ciprofloxacin in Nigeria

May God heal him quickly.

One Week of Ciprofloxacin Effective for Kidney Infections

In a study of women with kidney infections, one week of treatment with the antibiotic ciprofloxacin was as effective as two weeks of treatment. These results were published in The Lancet.

A kidney infection—also referred to as pyelonephritis—is a urinary tract infection that has reached one or both kidneys. It is less common than infections of the bladder and urethra, but can also be much more serious. A severe or untreated kidney infection can cause kidney damage and other serious problems. Factors that increase the likelihood of a kidney infection include pregnancy, diabetes, and kidney stones or other causes of urinary obstruction.

Kidney infections are usually treated with antibiotics, but the optimal duration of treatment remains uncertain. Treating patients for a shorter period of time could reduce the occurrence of antibiotic resistance, but is only an option if it effectively treats the infection.

One week of ciprofloxacin has previously been shown to be effective for the treatment of kidney infections,[1] but the one-week duration has never been directly compared with a longer, two-week duration. To make this comparison, researchers in Sweden conducted a study among 248 women with acute, community-acquired kidney infections.[2] Most of the women had uncomplicated infections.

I will advice they take him to oghara teaching hospital. My nephew had similar case which we treated @ a popular clinic in warri(delta state) called LILLY but it couldn't get better until we were refer to delta state teaching hospital oghara. But thank God he is fine today but he is on everyday drugs and I pray one day he will have to stop taking those drugs. May God heal every one of us. Ameen

Sir or ma'am not in all case okay. The truth is that it will dry up those swollen face, body, leg even testicles for now but I tell u it will still come up again. Am not a doc so I can't say which is which. But when it happened to my nephew,so many test Was carried out and they started treatment by gathering the infection to a stage that it got swollen times 2 b4 they started proper treatment to dry it up. Like I said am not into medical practice so I can't go into detail. May God provide for u guys because we spent a lot during the treatment process.

@op move the poor boy away from that death trap, and take him to a teaching hospital....

That guy has either chronic kidney disease, liver disease, both, or an underlying malignancy.....

I wish I could just get an appointment at MDCN.... all these quack mechanic and vulcanizer hospitals are just killing people day by day....

And this is not just a ciprofloxacin issue please.....

The OP said he's in UCH as seen in his first post
It could even be a case of renal shutdown as fluids can no longer be filtered rather accumulating in his system. Visible oedema

My doc, most medical council are just interested in collecting money from its practitioners but little has been done to weed out quacks who have infiltrated the system.

Imagine most of our tertiary centre looking like PHC.

Now this is serious.....

I just read through the article and all comments, and I found that they have done the third dialysis now..... (Dialysis is not a test tho)

Your nephew has end-stage renal disease.... The yellow eyes could be from liver disease (likely malignancy that have also metastasized to the kidneys) or a complication of massive blood transfusion....

Renal transplant is the gold standard.....

The Nigerian government has not been fair on us when it comes to health care. We always take a meagre percentage of the budget every year (the government prefer to pay some ex militants than to build and equip better hospitals)

God go help us
