Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai yesterday accused the administrations of former presidents, late Umar Yar’Adua and Goodluck Jonathan of “blowing” $40bn foreign reserve and $27bn excess crude account left by the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

The governor was fielding questions from State House correspondents after a meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

He said: “When I left government as minister in 2007, we left $40bn in (foreign) reserves and $27bn in the Excess Crude Account. That was what we handed over to Yar’Adua.

“Coming back as the governor of Kaduna State, the people that came after us have blown the money. They blew all we left behind, blew what they earned and borrowed, leaving President Buhari and his team to clear the mess. Nobody is even talking about that.”

The governor also stated that Nigerians were not being charitable for accusing Buhari’s administration of having impoverished them.

$40bn in (foreign) reserves and $27bn in the Excess Crude Account?

That is a lot of money.

For those insulting Nasir el-Rufai, ever wondered what happened and where the money went?

How much did Obasanjo met when coming to power and oil price was $45?

Buhari has no excuse

Obasanjo came to power in 1999 and met an empty treasury, debt of over $36n after years of successive massive undocumented military looting and oil price of $45, in spite of that, he went to work from day 1 and turn things around without blaming Abacha and IBB

El-Rufai, tell us how much you squandered as the FCT minister!

Tell us how you awarded the master plan of FCT to the company of one of your wives who is an architect.

Jonathan left $38bn in the reserve today $24bn is left, what happened?

If you asked them why our reserve is being depleted daily even in this Buhari's regime, the answer will be "we imports virtually everything"

During Jonathan's regime did we produce virtually everything? grin
