Very good question. Fortuneately for me i was born outside both religions, so am free from religious indoctrination. Those who were born into religious families like Christianity Islam Hindu Buddhism etc will most likely stick to thier religion while those born into non religious families will likewise stick to agnostic or athiest beliefs

It is a very good idea to research into what you will eventually mould your life around, but is that not too much hassle for the average believer?Especially when the believer is told(programmed) to believe that the act of research is of the spirit of the devil himself.
Besides, most ordinary folks just want to belong somewhere, so they accept whatever religions or some other groups that offer them that sense of belonging.

Personally,every human being is in control of his or her mind but the degree of control varies.

The Bill Gates,Michael jackson(rip),Prof wole soyinka,olusegun obasanjo,obama,Tiger woods,etc and various captains of the industry are unique set of human beings because they recognise,understand and fully control their mind.
