Is Your Washing Machine Faulty, See How To Fix It by PascalEgens: 10:49am On Dec 27, 2016
When it comes to an appliance like the washing machine; how we use it, the capacity of clothes we put in a wash, where we place it and how we clean it can contribute to the overall life span.

Therefore it is pertinent we possess at least the basic knowledge of how our washing machines work and how to fix the minor problems we might encounter.

Generally, a washing machine can last up to 10 years. But small problems might arise that you can quickly fix with minimal effort and Thermocool Nigeria has highlighted some and how to fix them.

Check the bolts and floor level

When you notice your washing machine hops or skips from time to time, it might likely mean that it still have the transport bolts (the bolts that help keep the inner drum unit in place while being delivered) attached to it or its feet are not level.

Therefore, if your washing machine is bouncing or you just got a new one, do well to double check if the bolts have been removed to prevent a major damage.

Also make sure that the floor underneath your washing machine is level and the washing machine is not resting in anything that might make its base unstable.

However, after investigation and find that neither the bolts nor floor level is the case, it might be a sign that the shock absorbers in your washing machine are experiencing wear and tear and need to be replaced as soon as possible.

What’s that noise about?

If your washing machine makes an unbearable noise, first blame it on a stubborn clothing item before heaping the blame on the washing machine itself. The clothing item might likely be a shirt button or a bra coil that has gone loose and its bouncing and tumbling around the drum. Or maybe your clothing items are not well balanced within the machine.

To solve this problem, simply open the machine and reposition your clothes or remove whatever is loose and the noise levels should go back to a comfortable, non-distracting tone.

However, if this doesn’t solve the problem, then there is a chance that the motor mount or drum may need to be tightened. If this is indeed the case, then don’t hesitate to contact a technician or the repair team of the brand you are using.

Overflowing washing machine!

What if you walk into your laundry room and the floor is flooded. You search and find out there is a leak in your washing machine. In the worst case scenario, your tub might actually be cracked and you might need an upgrade to a new washing machine. However, it’s also worth testing out other solutions first before reaching this conclusion.

For example, it might be worth checking whether your machine is overloaded with clothes. Did you know that your washing machine should be no more than ¾ full? So do not stuff it with much clothes.

However, it might also be a sign of wear and tear with regards to your washing machine’s water hose. If you can, change the hose or contact technicians to do that.

Sometimes all that is required is a tightening of the hose, other times you might need the hose replaced entirely. Similarly, if you find that there’s a lack of water flowing into your washing machine, it might be worth looking into tightening or replacement options as well.

My Advice

Carefully go through the booklet that comes with the washing machine when you bought it. Reading that could save you from minor ignorance about the appliance. And when you think the problem is too big for you to handle, contact service technicians to work on it.

THANK YOU
