I think you should make effort and go to the ministry of agric or go online and check the information for the company. The information will not get to you in ur bedroom. There is si much info flying around. So seek it out. My advise

Hmmm...the details don't really go with the headline. Seems like the youths would be used to plant maize for the big companies. Their training should've been carried out by the companies. I really thought the State was making lands available for graduates like you and others interested in agriculture. It's disappointing they wouldn't do that. ... but should a foreign exploiter investor approach them for lands they would go out of their way to provide the land... build access roads and have drainage in place.

This is just Fayose's usual meaningless gesture politics. What's so praiseworthy about giving young people tiny plots of land to farm a commodity product like maize, when the real obstacles to higher agricultural productivity are access to credit and poor transport infrastructure?

Has Fayose indicated he'll help the beneficiaries get clear title to their land, so they can use it as collateral when lending from the banks? Has he said anything about bringing rail links or better roads closer to the farmers, so they can get their goods to market more quickly? No, of course not, as Fayose is just as visionless as the rest of the Nigerian politicians who love to put out propaganda like this.

After Lagos' harvest of Lake rice, he had no option but start something, even if it only on paper.

This was never advertise, do u know i worked with lot of farmers here in Ekiti, who were equally shocked, i am in poly Ado, where d said training was carried out.

Brother are you in ekiti state? Are you in contact with your local government? No doubt, the selection would have some political undertone since its done at the local government level but a specialist grad like you should get a chance.
It may not be too late to contact your local government

The selection was done on a man knows man basis. I can confirm this because I know one of those persons who was selected for the training.

The training has already been conducted (I think it lasted between 2 and 3 months) and the youths are awaiting the promised mechanized implements for them to begin farming by the next rainy season (2017) which includes allocation of government land in each LGA for their crops.

If things work out, it is still an opportunity for farmers in general in Ekiti because these youths have been trained on use of mechanized implements and have been promised these equipments as a form of loan.

Other farmers can easily make use of these implements am sure for a reasonable charge.
