As in ehn. Help me tell them. Noting good comes cheap
jeebz:
Another thread looking to condemn private christian universities.

1. Quality education is not cheap anywhere in the world. Check Harvard, Princeton and similar universities.
2. I believe that the church would have a scholarship scheme for bright students who are members and non-members of the church.
3. Remember, this is a second private university in Lagos.

We can only give them say a ten period before we judge.

To all those quoting me and just going back to what I've already said... I dun tire, I've accepted that most of you are just hungry for reasons to throw stones at the church, so I'd advice people who actually understand the truth not to argue any further cos it's pointless... they only want to stand stubbornly on their unreal arguments... God bless

Well, you are clearly not a reasonable fellow. So because money was raised via the church, that means that he should reduce the school fees to nothing. Then tell me how he's supposed to maintain a school with such standard without adequate funding. This is not the government we're talking about. How will he pay lecturers, cleaners, windows washers? How will he buy facilities? How will he pay for electricity and general running costs of the school? Because you attended a public you have been brainwashed to believe that a 50k fee per student is enough to run a school. Sit down and think well.
crappy comment.. First question needed an answer!!! And no one here has brought up a real answer. why open a school with offering money..or they don't know the consequence of opening a school before you shouting fund this fund that, proffesor this, lecturer that.. Where is the total profit going to.. The running of church? Or feeding the poor or to finace the minister pocket when they are not certain of your dwindling offering they needed bigger money abi?. Later we shout christ-like which means christian..check your bible every things he did was free. He never charged a kobo for feeding 5,000 people and he is more particular about gaining soul...we have gone far from what was written in the bible and we have delve into profit making..world reasoning like we are making the earth safer for our kids not to be exposed to earthly things in the national university..you guys are joker..what happened to your fathers kingdom in heaven. Jesus moved from village to village spreading the gospel and gaining followers..spends most of his time in the wideness. Give what is for ceaser what belongs to him and give what is of God to him.. We should be buiding our place in heaven not making the earth too confortable...yes I'm a chrstian and all this end time pastor made me stop going to church for 2 years now.. I can do what most do.. Cram the posperity part of the bible leaving the real message and feed you ignorant people.. Retracting my step back to ifa..lol.

Which private university charge lesser amount? The question you should be asking is whether they give scholarship to bright students from their church

How many member of the church can afford this, judgement day is coming,,,,,this is not Christianity.Apostle Paul and Peter will be really disappointed in Nigeria Christianity.
And who told you they can't afford it? If a student can't afford it,he or she should go to public school. If he or she is brilliant, he should apply for scholarship if there's any.

Assuming the church built this school with her money,it will be better. But members were tasked, asked to sow seed, paid tithe, fasted, gave all they have, and was promised blessing. Only to discover that none of their ward can afford going to the school. It's a pity that the church today is not the same church the missionaries brought to us.
Even if the missionaries were to set up universities it would have being expensive. Maintaining university is quiet expensive especially if it's being run privately. If anyone isn't comfortable with the fees, such person should attend public schools after all they're subsidized

They are not running a charity organisation abi? They must be big time FRAUSTERS to be incorporated as non profitable organisation with CAC. I think you are the hypocrite here. Government should tax them heavily.
And if government should tax them who bears the burden more if not the members

Bro you never answered my question??

Is the university established for the purpose of profit making or for the masses.

Ask yourself these questions why is it always that it is only the church owned university school fees that is highly critised??

A church is non profitable, charitable organisation, so what happens when a member of a non profitable organisation contribute to a project and it is not serving the purpose of the organisation.

And you saying have ever managed a nursery school before?? You don't even know me. In regards to that I can choose to make any amount my school fee, because people don't pay tithe, offering and projects fee to me.

I think am in support of the new FRCN law on our churches

You would be surprised that the fees covers only cost of maintenance and payment or even part of salaries, running a university isn't cheap. I won't be surprised if the church still pumps money to pay some salaries . In all honesty saying they are making profit may not be fair.

Mfm's MTU is around the same range 600-700 and they have a sort of scheme for indigent students (a sort of scholarship scheme ) where students can be adopted and someone either pays their fees or pay for their meals. Even standard feeding is now expensive.

The simple truth is quality education is expensive, studying science is even more expensive. Just one small equipment can run to millions of naira now that the exchange rate is terrible.

This is one of the reasons I was in support of LASU's increase then to 250,000, the fees students pay doesn't go anywhere and that's why we keep having terrible hostels, terrible facilities etc since government can't keep up with the cost.

Like someone said on this thread, somebody pays for the free or highly subsidized education we see. In some countries its the Government.

I would be very surprised if I see a private uni that charges less than 600k.

A university is more than structures that what some people don't understand and have some courses are more expensive than others because of the costs put in place to get such departments rolling.

People may have contributed to build a university but do you expect people to keep contributing to maintain the university, the university has to be maintained from fees paid.

I understand but are Christians supposed to dictate the way the church use funds that are generated via tithes and offerings?.
Since you said you understand that is fine.
Christians (Christ-like), church (gathering of Christ-like people).

Everyone is accountable for his own decision, since the church was registered as a non profitable organisation. I think the tithe and offering should be made use for the reason of it being established. (soul winning).

Professors that earn 700k monthly, Doctors generally earn 500k monthly. I dunno where ppl expect church to see that kind of money... Universities aren't profitable even with this price tag. Funny enuf ppl won't see d break down of fees to know that d students r paying 4 other services.

You can build Church infrastructure with members money. But u cant ask members to continue paying for recurrent expenditure of d skul. The skul needs to run itself and not continually depend on fluctuating donations from d church

Firstly, you are wrong.Quality Education in Germany is free.No one is asking the church to upgrade there standard upto ivy league schools level for free.look for another excuse.

How many church members get those scholarships apart from there pastors family?

Honestly the financial activities of Religious body in Nigeria need to be checkmated.

What anyone gets free in Germany has been paid for by someone else. Isnt that the principle of socialism?

No sane person would go into d education sector with the mind to make profit. Because u won't even by charging 800k. There is a reason why Dangote and Otedola don't own universities. Even NUC chairman admitted in CU that the private unis aren't making profit

Lol In my own Church people are not very responsive to university donations. Btw u seem to think offerings r used to build Church universities-that's mostly wrong. In Most cases the church raises special voluntary donations from the church. Usually, few ppl respond because of thinking like yours. Finally, you can't fund a university with something so unpredictable as church donations, also churches can't use offerings because it is used to pay church workers, running cost of d church, pastoral salary, outreaches and church expansion. Tithe and offerings usually isn't enough for churches let alone universities.
Re: School Fees Of Anchor University, Deeper Life Owned (Screenshots) by Ncsamuel(m): 2:09pm On Jan 10, 2017
But my own question is why are these churches creating these universities?. Also, i believe education should be expensive but we all forget the reasons for the education in the first place. Education is to give access to knowledge so as alleviate the common man from from poverty. Therefore any man that can afford 600k as tution fee for his ward per yr,is not a'common man' who is in 'poverty'. In conclusion i see all these private universities as for the rich, they are not to help the common man but to make them more poorer and the rich more richer.
