He couldnt even allow it to reach 12months which is 1year. Before finally disolving his marriage .

The Wedding can be dissolved by first going to meet his in-laws, they accepting to refund his bride price/any other sacred item that binds them.
Then go to the church and informed the officiating minister of the need to get it dissolved and a prove of his outing with the spouse family. (He/she is not going against any law, infact the law of God approves divorce on a certain ground).

For the fact that the Marriage was just traditional and Church wedding, this falls under the purview of Marriages that can be dissolved by a Customary Court.
If they had done the Registry Wedding the appropriate procedure would be to have it dissolved in the High Court.
That's the position of the Law.
