WARRI — NIGERIANS have been told to brace up for the unexpected as the much orchestrated generation of 6,000MW of electricity by the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) at the end of the year is no longer realisable.

This is the result of investigations conducted by a non-governmental organi-sation and pro-PHCN group, the Initiative for Better Power Supply (IBPS).

According to the National Co-ordinator of IBPS, Mr. Don Emmanuel Onose, “after a meeting with field workers at Abuja recently, it was clear to us that the dream of generating the so-called 6,000MW of electricity by the end of December 2009 is not feasible from both completed and on-going projects throughout the country.”

Onose, however, admoni-shed Nigerians not to blame PHCN and the energy Minister for the failure to realise the dream, saying that past governments paid too much lip-service to the issue of power generation that allowed the problem linger for too long.

The goup appealed to Nigerians to keep an eagle eye on all PHCN installations against vandalism by crooks, Onose charged all to applaud the efforts of President Umaru Yar’ Adua and the Energy and Power Minister, Dr. Babalola, to give Nigerians regular and steady power supply within their means.

may be it will take forever to generate just 6000MW. Why wont we blame government for their inefficiency, more than 2 years after the advent of this government all what they can give us is excuse in all their promise. shio

Remember, they said 6,000MW by December 2009 and 10,000mw by 2011. ( this was about 3-4 months ago)

I wouldn't waste my time on dishonest people who are very very, and seriously CORRUPT, and INEPT.

In the 1st place, did U really believe that 6000MW cud be generated by PHCN under Yar A'dull's govt. this year-end?
If Yes, U definitely must hv bin dreaming.
