How the Internet works Part 1: HOW GOOGLE MAKE ITS MONEY_
Myth: People use to think Google MAGICALLY makes money EVERYTIME you visit their site to search for something. WRONG!, It's actually more than that. See How it works below_

Google provides billions of Internet users today with free search (Google search), free email (Gmail), free video platform (youtube), free storage space (Google Drive), every other thing free, and yet is one of the richest companies in the world with a networth of more than 527 billion dollars, only second after Apple according to a report in December 2015 by CNN.
Companies like Google and others that provide free service to Internet users use it as a catch to attract big brands.

With Google's dominance in the Internet search sector, a report by Statista in 2013 puts the number of unique persons who regularly use Google search at over 1.17billion (value should almost double now) and another report by Search Engine Land in 2016 says Google handles over 2 trillion searches a year.

Google doesn't make a dime from users searching through the search engine but from the companies, and individuals who advertise their products and services to part or all of these 1.17billion people. So the strategy is to get these free users to click on "Sponsored Search Results" (search results included from the advertisers products and services)

With this strategy of getting companies and individuals to advertise to Google search users, Google introduced a product called "Adwords" and another called "Adsense".

Google Adwords was developed for advertisers to enable them advertise their products and services to any Internet user searching on google for any keyword similar to that of theirs. (A keyword is that phrase or sentence people enter into google search box to search for results).
According to a former Google staff, Josh Macfarland Google had surpassed over 2.5Million advertisers as at far back 2008. If we do a quick estimate, 2.5Million users spending 100 dollars minimum for advert a year is 250 million dollars revenue a year. That report was in 2008. We can take a guess that number might have tripped by now..
